Since I came back to Splinterlands, a lot has changed and a lot of new cards have been added to the game, so I'm trying to get used to the new strategies while trying to level up using some that I used in the past. One of these strategies is to use the summoner Possibilus the Wise so that I can use a powerful melee card in the second position while using the Wave Brood card to target my opponent's cards, this way my cards in the first and second positions won't take damage too early and will have a chance to deal a lot of damage in the meantime.
See the Battle
In this battle I selected Arkemis the Bear to be my card in the second position, before he wasn't able to attack in this position but he will receive the Reach ability from the summoner Possibilus the Wise, so he will be able to attack in it.
The reason I chose Arkemis the Bear is that it is a powerful card in both attack and abilities.
Its mana cost is high but it is a great card to have in battle because in addition to having a good attack, it also has a good amount of life. In addition to its high stats, it has very useful abilities, which are:
Protect - The card with this ability will grant +2 shield to all other friendly cards while it is on the battlefield. If the card with the Protect ability is defeated, all other cards that received shields from it will lose the shield gained by it.
Halving - The first time a card with this ability hits a target, that target's attack is reduced by half. So if Arkemis the Bear hits an enemy card, it will reduce that card's attack by half and this only happens once per card.
Forcefield - The card that has this ability will only suffer 1 damage against cards that have 5 or more attack.
In my battle, my Arkemis the Bear only has these 3 abilities, but at maximum level he also has the ability Enrage.
Enrage - The card that has this ability will gain +50% melee attack and speed when it is not at full health.
In my opinion, Arkemis the Bear is a card choice, whether in second or first position. In addition, it is a Promo card and this means that it will grant +10% gains in your ranked battles, so there are more benefits to having this incredible card.
In the battle, I also used the Diemonshark card, which is a great defense and also a card that causes a lot of damage. The Deeplurker will be my main source of damage since it has the highest attack and the ability Opportunity, which makes it attack the opponent's card with the lowest health. The Supply Runner also has a good amount of attack and will increase the speed of my cards by +1 with its ability Swiftness, and lastly, the Wave Brood, which will take most of the damage so that my other cards survive longer. I avoided using cards with magic attacks because Counterspell was in this battle, so all cards receive the Magic Reflect ability. The other rule is Weak Magic, which makes the cards' shields useful against magic attacks.
I still have a lot to learn with the new cards introduced in the game, but even with old strategies I can still reach the Gold 1 league, but getting into the Diamond league is proving difficult, I think I'll have to rent stronger cards and develop new strategies.
