I Cancelled Truecaller App Subscription

Truecaller is an application that helps us to identify callers. I have been using these applications on my Android phone for the last few years. Last year I got a promotional offer that I could get a premium subscription just for 99 rupees so I opted for it. This was a one-time payment and there was number need for me to pay through the recurring model. I don't like subscription payments so I did not set up any payment method there and made all the payments using UPI once. The one year will be completed on 17th November so I have the reminder. This reminder is for the renewal and now this application will charge me for another year.

I don't want to continue the subscription because now they want to charge me ₹ $529, which is not discounted. I'm not okay with paying this amount, so I cancelled the subscription. This amount may not be big in dollars, but for me, it matters, so I have cancelled the subscription, and it will end on 17th November.

Even after the subscription ends, I will be able to use the application but they will be pushing advertisements. Premium is good because they remove all the advertisements so it's a good experience but just for the sake of no ads I don't want to take this subscription going. Better to move away and avoid the recurring subscription cost which is not good in my case because I don't get a monthly salary. I earn is completely unpredictable because it is dependent upon the work I do. Sometimes it's slow and sometimes it's high so I do want to keep the expenses recurring because I do not get the salary so sometimes it is difficult for me.

Even for the OTT subscriptions I make the one-time payment. I never opted for the subscription and because of this, I have also not gone with Netflix. It is one of the OTT platforms where we cannot make a front payment and to access their services we have to have this subscription. Because I'm not a fan of recurring expenses I have not tried their services ever and it's fine if I lose on their content because the content is just entertainment which I get from different platforms.

So for the truecaller app, my subscription is going to end in a week. I have been concerned about the subscription but it will be ongoing till the time it is valid and since renewal will not be happening so I'll be getting added from next week onwards. It's fine for me because I'm OK with the ad and if it is annoying then also I'll manage. We should manage our finances in a way that unnecessary expenses should not be on the bucket list. There are many things that I can focus on rather than just going to pay the true caller.


I don't know if a lot of people are using the paid subscription for the true caller. To be honest, none of my friends use it with a subscription and they all are using the free version. I paid for the subscription because it was highly discounted. I got one year subscription just for the ₹99 so I paid but now this 529 is a bigger amount for me. I just can't pay this amount so I have taken my decision now and I am happy with it.
