I hadn't been to a concert since before the pandemic. The last festival, then, I think was a Gods of Metal about ten years ago. Perhaps I wasn't very prepared for the amount of people we found yesterday at iDays, but the desire to see the artists of our youth was great.
Arriving for 7pm, when Avril Lavigne was scheduled to appear, was difficult. Traffic, queues, controls, between one thing and another we entered after the first, maybe first two, songs.
The performance lasted an hour and didn't seem memorable to me. There was no perceived desire to create a moment with the audience, but only to entertain as much as expected and leave. Within an hour Avril had already left the stage. Good, but a bit cold and forgettable as a performance.
Time to set up the stage and then it was time for Sum41. Here it was quite the opposite. Great energy, the desire to involve the public, great affection towards the fans from the first to the last second. Two magical and masterfully held hours. A band that inflamed the iDays audience and made them jump, sing and dance. A magnificent show.
I have another concert waiting for me at the end of the month and I hope it will be as good as the one by Sum41, who made me feel like a boy again.
Non andavo ad un concerto da prima della pandemia. L’ultimo festival, poi, credo sia stato un Gods of Metal di una decina di anni fa. Non ero forse molto preparato per la quantità di gente che ci siamo trovati ieri all’iDays, ma il desiderio di vedere gli artisti della nostra gioventù era tanto.
Arrivare per le 19, quando era previsto il momento di Avril Lavigne, è stato difficile. Traffico, code, controlli, tra una cosa e l’altra siamo entrati dopo la prima, forse prima due, canzoni.
La performance è durata un’ora e non mi è parsa memorabile. Non si percepiva la voglia di creare un momento con il pubblico, ma solo di intrattenere per quanto previsto e andare via. In un’ora Avril aveva già lasciato il palco. Brava, ma un po’ fredda e dimenticabile come esibizione.
Tempo di sistemare il palco e poi è stato il momento dei Sum41. Qui è stato tutto il contrario. Una grande energia, il desiderio di coinvolgere il pubblico, un grande affetto verso i fan dal primo all’ultimo secondo. Due ore magiche e tenute magistralmente. Una band che ha infiammato il pubblico dell’iDays e lo ha fatto saltare, cantare e ballare. Uno spettacolo magnifico.
Ho un’altro concerto a fine mese che mi aspetta e spero sia bello come quello dei Sum41, che mi hanno fatto tornare ragazzo.
