Today I will share some photos my pets and share some tips for keeping. My pets name is Tonni. Keeping pets safe in the summer heat can be a challenge. Pets don’t sweat like humans do, and they can overheat quickly in hot weather. Dogs and cats also have sensitive paws that can burn from hot pavement or get cut up from walking on sharp gravel. Careful planning and vigilance are essential to keeping your pets happy and healthy throughout the hot summer months. If you live in an area prone to dangerous heat, such as the desert or another place with extreme temperatures during specific times of year, consider hiring a pet sitter so your pet is never left at home while you’re away. But if you cannot do that, follow these helpful tips on how to keep your pet happy and healthy all summer long. 1.Make sure your pet always has fresh water. It might seem like common sense, but in summertime, it’s easy for your pet to become dehydrated if they don’t have access to a constant flow of fresh water. Cats especially need plenty of water, since they can get dehydrated much more easily than dogs do. Be sure to change your pet’s water bowl frequently, and provide multiple bowls around the house so they have easy access no matter where they are. If you’re leaving your pet alone all day while you’re at work, you may want to consider installing a pet water dispenser that automatically refills the bowl when it’s low. 2.Set up an area in the house that’s just for your pet. As much as you care about your pet, they don’t care about your furniture like you do. Cats love to scratch furniture and dogs love to chew things, and you don’t want them ruining your belongings. Pets also shed, which can easily become overwhelming if there isn’t a good way to collect it. And sometimes, pets just smell funny. That’s why it’s a good idea to create a designated space just for your pet. You can put a scratching post by a window so they can get some sunlight while they scratch. And you can place a pet bed in the area so they have something comfortable to sit on. Your furniture will thank you. 3.Install a pet door so your pet can go in and out as they please. Dogs love to go out and explore the world, but they don’t love being left in a yard all day. Just as with cats, dogs can become overly excited and overheat in the summer sun. So if you have a yard, consider investing in a pet door so your dog can come and go as they please. And if you have a fenced-in backyard, your pet can come and go as they please provided you have a door that’s large enough for them to fit through. 4.Check on your pet frequently to make sure they aren’t overheating. It’s easy to forget that your pet is outside when you’re busy inside. For example, you may be enjoying a nice pool party, but your pet is sitting in the sun with other animals they don’t know. Or perhaps you’ve left your pet outside while you run an errand, and now you’re just returning home. In either scenario, your pet could be overheating. Signs of overheating in dogs include panting, drooling, heavy breathing, and/or acting restless. Cats can also overheat, but their signs of heat exhaustion may not be as visible. Cats can become lethargic and stop eating, and they can also develop urinary tract infections from sitting in warm, dirty water. 5.Don’t forget to trim your pets’ nails and brush their fur before venturing outside. You might not think about it, but sharp claws can easily tear up your porch and hurt other animals. That’s why it’s a good idea to trim your pet’s claws before they go outside. You can also apply a light coat of nail polish to help prevent them from growing out too far and causing harm. Brushing your pet’s fur regularly helps prevent matting, which can make them too hot when they’re outside. Plus, brushing helps distribute natural oils throughout their fur, which can help repel dirt and dust. Finally, never leave your pet in a parked car. Even with windows rolled down, it can quickly become an oven. If you’re running a quick errand, leave your pet at home. It only takes a few minutes for temperatures inside a vehicle to rise to dangerous levels. And if you’re going to be away from your vehicle for a longer period of time—such as shopping at the mall or a large outdoor festival—make sure to leave your windows open just a crack to prevent your pet from getting too hot. Did you know that an average car can increase in temperature by 19 degrees in just 10 minutes? This can be dangerous for both dogs and cats. So make sure you never leave your pet in a parked car.
