Here you can see the most beautiful and impressive piece of non-sacral architecture in the village called Tar. The year 1784 is engraved above the main entrance so I suppose that the palace was built back then, in the 18th century. I drove 80 km to Tar.
This is the interior of the Euphrasian Basilica in the small city of Porech. The old church from the sixth century has for the most part retained its original shape and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I had to drive 70 km to visit Porech.
Here you can take a look at an old building that was also photographed in Porech. This is zhe Zuccato Palace. One of the well-preserved palaces in Venetian Gothic style.
Here you can see a detail from the village called Sveti Lovrech. The surreal stairway made me think of the Led Zeppelin song. You know, that extremely great and iconic one. There's a tra la la la ... and so on. This was part of the Venetian fort.
Here you can see the interior of St. Martin's Church in Sveti Lovrech. Some of the wall paintings date from the 11th century when the church was built.
Here you can see the organ in St. Martin's Church. I had to drive 55 kilometers north of the place in which I live to reach Sveti Lovrech. All the places in this post are situated north of Medulin, my hometown. There is only the sea south of there.
This photograph was taken from the outskirts of the village called Kringa. Besides some ordinary houses, you can also see the church tower of the Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul. The church and the tower were built in 1787
This is a scene from the center of the village, not far from the church. Kringa is situated 60 kilometers north of where I live.
Here you can see the baroque Church of St. Euphemia in Rovinj. The pretty large building was slowly built from 1725 to 1736.
In this last photograph, you can see some buildings in the old center of Rovinj. Rovinj is a seaside city on the west coast of Istra. I had to drive 45 kilometers to get there. 45 kilometers north, of course. And that's it. Hope you enjoyed the tour.
I visited quite a few towns & villages and I photographed plenty of historic architecture in the last few months. In this post, I'll show you only a small collection of black & white shots from my day trips around Istra, the peninsula on which southern cape I live. Since similar color photographs will appear in the near future as part of a series of much longer and more detailed posts about the places I visited, this could be considered as some kind of monochrome teaser or trailer. Have a good viewing.
AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
