Today was A great day!
After giving it some thought seeking advice and wanting to look after my health more I have taken up running and upping my cardio in general.
Today was particularly important because today (every Saturday) is the day Park Run events happen and from my knowledge in certain cities they have them on multiple days. What is a ParkRun you may ask? well...
Parkrun is a global organization. There are weekly, timed 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) running events, often held in local parks or open spaces. What is best about it is that it is free!
I have heard about it many times in the past and even know of #hive users that do parkruns but at the time I didn't give it much thought as I don't do runs... until now.
My running is nothing serious it is just something I want to do alongside any cardio to better look after my health and just in general be healthier, One day I will certainly look at 10k runs maybe even a half marathon but for now I really enjoy my short 5k runs although I'm new and still slow I do feel very comfortable in the range and would like to build up my 5k runs before moving onto bigger.
Here is A photo that A fellow runner captured for me, He is A very good marathon runner so he finished well before us but because my friend who got me signed up to park run is a friend of his he got him to capture A photo of us at the final straight heading into the finish line.
As you can see we are sprinting up to the finish I realised that starting a run slower and building up the pace throughout the race left me with A tiny bit of energy near the end to go for it! (me on the right, my friend jake on the left.
My friend Jake is A long-time park runner he purposely slowed his run down and spent this run just being A pacer for me. he also has A 10K run in London Sunday morning so he didn't wanna be risking anything before then.
Thanks for reading.
Special thanks to @strava2hive for being an amazing service on #hive
