There has been plenty of people in my family who went to college, but none have ever actually finished the 4-year journey. Even the most successful and wealthy person in our family didn't graduate college. That has finally changed now that my younger brother Chez has graduated from Millersville University at the age of 27.

Now I don't think that you absolutely have to graduate from college-level studies to become a successful person. However, I must admit that it takes quite a bit of dedication to accomplish the feat and it often leads a person down a path of success. These days graduating is becoming less and less popular. If people do decide to go to college, they let partying get the best of them. That's what happened to me, my mom, and others. Then there were those who just say no thanks.

You may wonder what my brother studied at Millersville and to that, I'll tell you accounting. I never would have predicted that my brother would evolve into an accountant, but then again a lot of things happened in his life that I never saw coming. Life is full of surprises. It's times like these when the surprise is extremely positive that you really must take the time to soak it in and celebrate as a family.

Chez didn't want to be stuck working as a server at a restaurant for the rest of his life, which I totally understand. Although he often makes great money doing that, it's just not something that he's extremely passionate about anymore. He's been doing it since high school, so almost 10 years now. It's about time to move on to something bigger and better.

My bro had a paid internship earlier this year and seems to have found a great place to work now that he has graduated. I'm thankful that he was given the opportunity to not only test his skills but do so with a man that seems to really care about Chez and treats him more like a friend than an associate. I'm so excited for my little brother (not so little anymore) to transition into his new career path.

When it comes to the graduation itself, damn was it boring. I think that all five of the people in my family who attended can agree. It was so slow and boring. I hadn't ever realized just how cultish college graduation is. It seemed more like a ceremony than a celebration. We were backed into this hot gymnasium with hundreds if not thousands of other people. The chairs were very uncomfortable and it took nearly two hours for my brother's name to finally be called. When that did finally happen, they didn't even pronounce it right. His full. name is McChesney and I guess that is just too hard to say for the average peanut brain. The woman's mispronunciation pissed us off a little bit, but I made sure to not let it totally sour our joyous day. How can a college-educated person reading the names not say it correctly? All graduates wrote out the annunciation for their name so this type of thing wouldn't occur. Some people are just fucking stupid though and I guess don't know how to read.

One thing these professors and other board staff knew how to do was talk. My god did they talk. It was meaningless speech after meaningless speech. Each person that took to the podium acted as if people in the building actually cared what they had to say. Most told boring stories or just bragged about their achievement. The only speaker I enjoyed a bit was this African dude who had a badass accent. He talked about the implications of AI for a solid 15-20 minutes. It was cool at first, but even that one got annoying. I was surprised that the older generation is actually taking the time to understand that AI is going to impact our lives in tremendous ways.

After the graduation was finally over, we all went outside to take some more photos together. I was lugging around a tripod all day, so it was nice to finally be able to put it to use. I realized that if you are carrying a backpack around a college campus, nobody thinks anything of it. However, all purses were subject to inspection upon entry. Little did they know, I wasn't even a student.

It turned out to be a pretty rad day. The weather was nice, my brother is finally done with college (for now), and we can now say that we have a college graduate in our family. I'm very proud of my brother and can't wait to see what is next for him in his life.

Feel free to leave your best congratulatory comments down below. Chez sure does deserve it after completing his studies despite the odds at hand.

Awesome dude congrats to your brother!

CONGRATS to bro! :)

wow, that is one full auditorium.

Congratulations !!

Thats awesome man. Congrats to your brother. I spent about five years in school and got enough credits to become a doctor. I changed degrees several times so I can take any class that I wanted. I wasn't in it for the degree, but the knowledge. Graduating takes some dedication and that is awesome that your brother is the first in your family to do it.

He has learned a lot and I know that college can be a wonderful place to absorb useful information. You just have to be in the right place at the right time. For me, I was only concerned with partying while at college. I didn't take full advantage of the opportunity. That's not to say I didn't learn some valuable lessons, because I sure did. I didn't come anywhere close to graduating though. I'm very proud of him for doing this. Especially if you knew how bad some of his years were, he has overcome so much.

That’s awesome he made it through then.

Many many congratulations to your brother and your family.

Yes true, these days graduation is less and also less popular. Secondly, I agree that speeches are most of time are boring and they bragged a lot.
But, most importantly hug your brother more tightly and congratulates him from my side too. May he will get double, triple even thousands time success. Ameen.

Congratulations to your brother for his graduation.

Congratulations 🎉 to your brother.

I never would have predicted that my brother would evolve into an accountant

I don't think anyone intentionally becomes an accountant. It's just something that kind of happens. Also, in my family all of us finished college except for one person and that one person is the most successful (financially anyway) out of all of us. He was too smart for school as it turns out.

I think you are correct.
There are successful people in my family, but only one college graduate. Let's hope this leads my bro to success as well.

I hope so as well. I have a kind of negative attitude about the university system in the USA as I don't think it really helps most people. I hope your bro is an exception to the rule I have in my head :)

I’m the same, but I still have faith for him to benefit.

A big congrats to him! Graduating from college is a great achievement. Best wishes on his next journey :)

Many many congratulations to your brother for this great achievement. Earlier, even in our family, people did not study that much, but we who are who we are, have studied hard. And the way education has become so important now every incoming child is studying first.

Congratulations to your brother. I think it wasn't always easy for him. It's great that he made it!

This is the moment you should throw a grand party for your bother's big achievement.

We did actually. I have a post I'll be sharing tomorrow about his post-graduation surprise party.

Wow that's great. Eagerly waiting for the post.

Congratulations to your brother I wish he had a great future ☺️

Your brothe broke that record!
Congratulations to him and congratulations to your family as a whole.

Hello my friend, congratulations to your brother for graduating, besides being the first in your family to do so. As you say, sometimes it is not necessary to be a professional to be successful, but it is up to each one to become a professional or not. I am glad that Chez is a professional and is showing his skills in his work. I wish all your family the success they deserve. A hug my friend.
