Hello everyone! I'd like to share our visit to the Alberto Santos-Dumont Museum in the magnificent city of Petropolis Brazil. Alberto Santos-Dumont is recognized as the first person to invent lightweight aircraft.
On our way to the museum, we encountered an interesting attraction - the floral clock. It looks incredibly charming. Later we arrived at Santos-Dumont's house. No kitchen in this house. When Santos-Dumont lived here,he would order meals from the hotel across the street, using such a service in the early 20th century.
The house where Santos lived is two stories and quite simple. It's marked as his birth year 1873. The flight of the first airplane took place in October 1906.
Santos used to prefer this type of clothing. He spent many years in France. Although originally born in Brazil, he had lived here at one point.
The paintings in the museum depict his belief in flight. He had previously completed two flights. One was at a height of 5 meters, the other at 60. Later a flight of 220 meters took place.
We went upstairs to the second floor and entered the bedroom. There used to be a small bathroom here. There was a mirrored cabinet above the sink.
There's another portrait here and his bed is located in this room. He used to sleep in this bed.
We saw a piece of furniture similar to a chest of drawers. He led a quite simple life.
There was a wardrobe. It's said that Santos-Dumont was quite short only 152 centimeters tall, so the wardrobe was accordingly measured.
There was a small shop where you could buy souvenirs.
We saw Alberto Santos-Dumont's own dining table in Paris. The table's height was two meters. He was quite passionate about heights and curious about inventing such things.
By the way Albert is also considered the inventor of the first wristwatch. Pocket watches were used before. He developed this invention because he didn't like taking out the watch. Unfortunately Santos' later days were difficult. He experienced severe depressions and committed suicide on July 23rd at the age of 59.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of the Alberto Santos-Dumont Museum. Thank you for reading. I hope you find it interesting to take a look at this wonderful museum.
