My second son celebrated his 5th birthday last weekend, and today there was a birthday party for April-born children at his daycare.
The lunch teacher made a "Minecraft" cake for him! I wasn't able to see the actual cake, but I got a picture the teacher drew on the draft of the cake, so I'm posting it. It's a character called "Warden" from Minecraft (I wonder how she made this into a cake...). My second son loves Minecraft and was very happy with it. Thanks to his kind teacher.
We also had a strange creature made of blocks at home, so I will post that as well. It was made by my second son. I'm really impressed with the angle of the legs and how good he is at it....lol
My elder son went with his father to an Edo-kiriko (faceted glass) workshop in Katsushika-ku in the evening.
They were going to buy a gift for my husband's acquaintance from abroad who will be visiting this week. My eldest son had heard about Edo-kiriko in his social studies class at school, so he wanted to take a look and went along. The red glass in the photo is my son's.
After they had finished their shopping, a man who looked like the owner of the workshop asked, "Which elementary school?", "What grade are you in?", "Did you study traditional crafts in social studies?", and he even took my son and my husband on a tour of the workshop, asking him if he would like to see the production process of Edo-Kiriko!
he last photo is a Snoopy strap given to my son at the workshop. When he left his bicycle key near the cash register and went back to get it, an old lady at the workshop gave it to him, saying that he would lose it because it did not have a key ring on it. Interestingly, it was not a new one, and she must have put it on from somewhere around there, so Snoopy's nose was a little black and dirty, but my son was very happy with it.
I am glad both of my boys had a very good day each.

週末に5歳の誕生日を迎えた次男ですが、今日は保育園で4月生まれの園児の誕生会がありました。
給食の先生が、次男のために『マインクラフト』のケーキを作ってくれました！実際のケーキは、私は見ることはできなかったのですが、ケーキの下書きに先生が描いた絵をもらったので投稿します。マイクラの「ウォーデン」というキャラクターだそうです（これをどうやってケーキにしたのだろう・・・）
次男はマインクラフトが大好きなので、とても喜んでいました。優しい先生に感謝です。
また、家にブロックでできた不思議な生き物がいましたので、そちらも投稿しておきます。次男作です。足の角度とか、ホント上手なんだよなーと感心してしまいます（笑）
長男は、夕方父ちゃんと葛飾区にある江戸切子の工房に行きました。
今週、海外から仕事関連の知り合いが来るそうで、その方へのプレゼントを買うためでした。長男は学校の社会科で江戸切子については聞いていたため、見てみたいと言ってついていったのです。写真の赤いグラスは、長男が買ってもらったものです。
買い物を済ませた後、会社の人が「どこの小学校？」「何年生？」「社会で伝統工芸品の勉強した？」などと声を掛けてくれ、しまいには「現場、見ます？」と工房の中を案内してくれて、江戸切子の制作過程を見ることができたのだそうです。2人とも、社会科見学のようで楽しかったと言っていました。
最後の写真は、工房でもらったスヌーピーのストラップ。長男がレジ付近に自転車の鍵を忘れて取りに戻ったところ、工房のおばあさんが「キーホルダーがついてないから失くしちゃうのよね」と言ってつけてくれたものです。面白いことに新品でも何でもなく、その辺にあったものをつけてくれたのでしょう、スヌーピーの鼻は若干黒く汚れていましたが、長男はとても喜んでいました。
2人とも、それぞれとても良い一日を過ごせたようで良かったです。
