My great-grandparents homesteaded, built their house, and grew their food.

My grandparents switched from growing a garden to using grocery stores.

My parents knew no different.

I am now learning to homestead.

Two generations was all it took for that knowledge to disappear.

I have learned that it truly is the little things in life that bring me the most joy. I don’t need a yacht to feel complete. Once you stop chasing and instead start feeling gratitude, you will have more joy in your life! It’s okay to have goals and keep working towards something but when that takes you away from appreciating the moment, you have lost in my opinion.

Homesteading has brought my more joy than I can imagine and it has been all little moments!

You can homestead from anywhere, nothing will change my mind about that. One thing I do know is that when people think something you are doing is crazy, sometimes those crazy decisions become the best decisions of your life.

I can think of two of those “crazy” life decisions that have been my best life decisions to date. One of them being deciding to homestead and seek the knowledge our great-grandparents possessed. It’s been lost, and I want to return to my roots. Do you?

I can’t believe it has only been two generations between my and my great-grandparents and now I’m having to relearn what was basic knowledge to them. I’m grateful I have the opportunity to do so.

I can see from you posts and videos that you truly enjoy homesteading. I envy you and wish I could spent a holiday in a homesteading place to get a feel for it.

I enjoy watching you doing your things. Keep it going, dear. Blessed be.

It is crazy how quickly we have lost all of the information our great-grandparents had. We also have a small homestead here in Panama, but things are different. We have a cow and some chickens. We used to have goats and sheep, but they were too much work in this tropical climate - constantly moving them around to keep them from getting parasites. A lot of homesteading is stuff I would like to relearn as well. I have a terribly black thumb!

Yay! 🤗
