I mentioned before how I am a fan of Greek mythology and coins with this theme. Also, it has been used by ancient Greeks in their coins. One example is the Silver tetradrachm with the Athenian's owl. This is one of the biggest symbols of the Athena goddess that I mentioned when I talked about the coin with the goddess. This old coin was replicated many times by different mints representing different countries. The CIT Mint also has a very cool version that weighs 1 troy ounce but the premium is expensive, I think I saw some people talking on our SGS discord server about it. But I got the cheaper cousin from Silvertowne Mint.

This coin was minted just to be a 1oz silver replica of the silver tetradachm so it doesn't represent any country. The obverse is blank with just the coin weight. The owl represents the knowledge of Athena. The tetradrachm was a large silver coin used in ancient Greece. I guess that it was a nice replica from SilverTowne Mint. If you check it isn't a perfect round coin so it reflects a bit of the uncontrolled quality in the ancient coins. Also, the coin comes in a nice leather pouch, because of this irregular size, it won't fit in any capsule so the pouch is nice to store it.

The Silvertowne mint is famous for minting silver rounds, located in Indiana in the US, especially buffalos and their eagles. But these Athenian owls have a different antique touch compared to their regular rounds. I was waiting for a nice opportunity for this round since the price was 4 times less compared to the one from CIT that I wanted to buy. I spent 50 CAD on this piece of silver, I would say around 7 CAD over the spot, not bad.

Thanks. I only noticed it online but you really bought it. A design 2400 years old that keeps appealing!

For sure, I think that are some other rounds using the design! There are two countries that used this theme as a design for their reverse! Santa Helena and one more hehe. As Kerris said, the real coin in good condition is very difficult to find and expensive right?

Roman and Greek coins are available plenty in EUrope. 'But the silver ones are not always chepap See this one:

Wow that is in a good condition!!! I have a roman coin that was cheap yeah not silver for sure hehehe and also the quality is worse than this one for sure! I can’t see clearly the obverse and reverse

It's a beauty and the bag too, I like both, the irregularly shaped coins seem more striking to me, obviously their value is in the metal, your post is interesting.
I wish you a happy weekend

yeah it is something very different hehehe
