Welcome to Mokti's. This is the first Mokti's I encounter. Apparently it has other branches other than this.
A very cosy corner at the entrance. It is possibly the spot customers would take photo at.
So many popsicles enticing me.
Their ice-cream here are very reasonably priced. But I did wonder if they are making profit.
Our mixed gula apong ice-creams are now ready. Let's dig in!
Oldest son actually said thank you to me for buying the ice-cream and taking a photo of him with it.
Youngest son enjoying his ice-cream sharing with his older brother.
My unexpectedly delicious Sea Salt popsicle. I really like it and am surprised by it.
Yummy peanut butter waffles.
I love this quote that says " Life is meant to be lived." Hence live every moment of it purposefully.
It was a hot day yesterday so after we finished lunch, we noticed the time was still early so the husband noticed a gula apong ice-cream shop in the area we were at. Hence he suggested we could go there after lunch.
When I saw it was gula apong, I was intrigued!
What is gula apong, you may ask?
Gula is sugar in Malay language while apong actually means float in the language. Together, gula apong means a type of palm sugar extracted from the palm trees and originated from Sarawak.
This is not our first try on gula apong as there used to be one opened near the area we stay but unfortunately, the business did not sustain and it shut down, sadly. So when we could try another different shop selling this palm sugar ice-cream, I could not wait to try.
We walked in the shop and we saw it was empty with no customers. The shopkeeper mentioned they have just opened the shop hence why the air conditioner was still taking time to cool down the place. The shop was having very few tables and chairs but it was sufficient for its customers. I noticed they have a freezer for different types of Popsicles of different flavours as well as some ice-cream tubs. The Popsicles have interesting flavours such as *Sea Salt and also Gula Apong as well. It also has another local drink flavour called the Bandung made from flowers
My boys and my nephews bought mixed flavour in medium cup-sized. It was actually original flavour mixed with pandan flavour. We can choose one or 2 toppings for free. My son chose the chocolate rice. My two sons shared one ice-cream while the bephews had one each. This was only RM4.50 each which is less than USD 1.50.
My brother-in-law also ordered waffles with peanut butter for the younger nephew and my youngest son took some bites too. I think it must have been yummy cos they went on and on eating.
While waiting for the husband and his brother to finish talking, I finally could resist and ordered a Sea Salt popsicle because I was too curious how it may taste like. The funny thing was it is blue in colour so I did not expect much from it but the savory sweet combination was actually NICE!! I like it very much. No one wanted to try it except for my youngest who took a small bite too.
We noticed people just walked through this shop and walked past it without ordering most of the time. It seems like they knew they could enjoy air conditioner for a while and both the front and back doors of this shop are open. It was a bit amusing.
Ice-creams are always refreshing on hot days. So this was a really good treat. When we were about to leave, more customers were finally coming in.
