Meanwhile, back at the Board Room on Friday evening five of the usual suspects played "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past..."
Our turtles successfully completed three scenarios, stopping a mugging, raiding a gangster dōjō, and then stopping a smuggling operation.
The game was great fun, with a nice flow to it, and not weighed down with too much complexity. There are easy cooperation mechanisms between players and the role-playing element is great fun too - the main turtles are named after the great artists of the Renaissance. In the third scenario a mentor rat called Splinter joined the turtles, and despite hobbling around with the aid of a cane proved formidable in self-defence and in assisting the young turtles.
Thanks to John for once again hosting a fun even, and to my namesake, David for bringing the game and playing the gangster opposition. An honourable mention to Karl for the homemade "Cuban" bread, the free distribution of his company's stout, and the exposition of the 90s cultural context.
In the top photo, Karl and I are celebrating taking out the main gangster (2nd photo) in the second scenario and thereby achieving victory.
In the third scenario, the turtles had to get past several surveillance cameras and break into a back room to destroy a mysterious machine. My turtle, Mikey-Angelo charged in, damaged the machine-thingy, and survived some vicious counterattacks until Karl's Splinter hobbled into range and delivered more damage before Taiko's Donatello took down the machine.
A fine evening's entertainment, the 'hood pacified, and I even managed to make it out in time for the last tram home!
Turtles rock - all the way down!
Cheers!
