“For whatever we lose (like a you or a me),
It's always our self we find in the sea.”
― e.e. cummings
Is it not true? Somehow, in a weird way, there is an unexplainable connection between us and the sea. I cannot quite put my finger 'round it. I am no swimmer let it be known lest you mistake me one thus I say this. There is just this "magnetic force" of some sort that draws us in to the ocean - like it is calling us (cue in Moana and her song).
The above is primarily the reason we end up refreshed after a great day at the beach, right? I hope I'm right.
You, dear hiver at the other side of the screen, may have expected this post since I have mentioned it this week - and here you go. Today let us have a quick rundown/ virtual tour of the island known as Sumilon!
This island is located near Oslob, Cebu. For easier picturing out where it is - Oslob is a three to four hour drive from Cebu City, depending on the traffic and the speed of the vehicle. For us, it was a four-hour drive because we rode a bus (it does not drive speedily for safety purposes, of course).
Once we arrived in Oslob after the excruciating LONG drive, we then rode a small boat ("bangka") going to Sumilon! It only took about twenty to thirty minutes to get there.
As we near the island, I immediately realized why people go there - the crystal clear water is inviting! The white sand is as pure as the water I reckon. It was as if I was no longer in Cebu, heck the Philippines. The water is giving some Bali vibes. "This is so cool", I told myself.
I'd leave you with some snapshots I took - what do you think of the island? 🐳
