I figured some unprocessed raw files on one of my SSDs. I decided to get a little moody on the edits, highlighting the yellow colors, adding some vignettes to the photos, and poof, a moody theme for these sets of images.

As a context, my husband loves walking around our neighborhood back in Cebu City. This walk happened in May this year, he argued I must bring a camera so if there's an opportunity, we can capture it. I did.

I am glad I submitted (wives, submit to your husbands), I ended up taking more than 50 images and most of them, the hubby and the little one were the subjects but I also got to take shots of the environment. Looking at these photos made me miss Cebu City. However, the news of flooding keeps me from traveling to Cebu just yet because our area is prone to flooding too, not in our vicinity but on the road going up there.

Practicing our photography skills requires a lot of time. In fact, this is applicable to all things that we want to be good at. I read somewhere or perhaps it was my husband who said that to be good at something, we must spend 10,000 hours practicing it. And photography, I had been into it since grade school, and I had point-and-shoot film cameras back then. It makes me laugh remembering how I braved traveling to Jagna by myself just to get my films developed. That camera shop that processed my film rolls gives new film rolls for free so after getting my photos, I always have a brand new set of 36 shots to use.

Oh well, I had one film camera and then when I studied in college, I stopped using it because of mobile phones. I rekindled my love for photography when I started working and I was exposed to individuals who are into digital photography at work. My brother who worked in the UAE gave me a Canon 1000D, my first ever DSLR.

Today, I am using a Sony A7iii camera, I love the 35mm, 28mm, and 85mm focal lengths.

From there, I influenced my husband (boyfriend back then) to try photography. He got hooked too and soon ventured into videography. Now, he is very much interested in camera gear and types of equipment as well as accessories, he is always updated on the new release of cameras and whenever I have concerns on what camera or lens or gear to use in such and such, he is able to help me out.

Perhaps the best thing for me about photography is that it freezes a moment. If I had not taken photos during such time, I will just forgotten what happened that day. The beauty of the camera and photography is in the story a photo can bring out to the audience.
