Over the last couple of years I have been shifting a bit in work to make life a bit more different every day. One of the perks that comes with that is that I have to organize some social events every now and then. The one thing that I am good at, is being social. But making social events happen, that is an entirely different ballgame.
Making sure you know how many guests will be there. Making sure the food reservations are all good and no one has their allergies served on their plat in front of them. Making sure the place is tidy and ready to go. Being ready and waiting before the first party animals arrive.
I hate it. I hate waiting to see if my expectations are the ones that will actually come out, or if I did something stupid with my expectations maybe. Will everything be enough? Will people go home with the though ‘yeah everything was just perfect’ or will they go home saying to their loved ones: ‘hmmmm, I had expected more of it’.
Luckily one of the factors in making these things easier is finding someone who make food professionally and has a good idea on how much everyone will eat. And also how it should be presented, and what you need to make it look all cool and fancy. Love those kinds of people!
Admittingly, the results of it were even better than expected. I mean…when you walk into a place and the table is served with food like this. You would be happy right? I know I was! It won’t take away the nerves of inviting people and not worrying the whole evening will just suck. But it will take away parts of it, and anything to do that is a good one.
But now…..now we feast!
