With the spread of food laid out before me, I was doing the best I could to not dig into all the food so that a nice photograph could first be taken. :)
A cappuccino for my caffeine fix.
A latte for added measure too. Everyone needs their own boost.
Satay Ayam, large chunks of chicken skewers grilled in the local style with a peanut/pineapple dip.
A better close up of the Satay dish
Their signature Nasi Lemak. Fluffy coconut rice with beef cheek rendang, assam sambal prawns, sotong hitam, har jeong kai wings, soft-centred egg, house-made sambal ikan bilis.
Yes a close up shot again!
Sinpopo's Famous Dry Mee Siam - Stir-fried rice noodles with Sinpopo’s blend of umami spices, topped with quail eggs and assam prawn.
A closer shot once again
Dessert of course! A nice Kaya gula melaka coconut cake.
Today's meal was more like a combination of lunch and dinner. Everywhere was too crowded during lunchtime and I decided to walk around until the crowds cleared. However, my time keeping seemed to be quite terrible and by the time I was done shopping, I'd ended up in the awkward time just a bit too early for dinner. I wouldn't even put it as the time for tea either.
I decided to hop into Sinpopo which had recently moved it's flagship store into the department store within the mall itself. Seemed like an odd choice and is something I rarely see over here. It does make for an easy target for tired hungry shoppers like me however. They are a pretty well known brand specialising in Peranakan cuisine so that meant the dishes would all be very local ones today (albeit with a stronger Peranakan twist than expected).
The coffee was of course pretty much as standard as could be. I don't think I was aware of or managed to detect any hint of Peranakan influence in it. The mains had slight influences here and there but I don't think anyone who is used to the localised version will find it too drastic of a change. Long story short, the food was fantastic and I loved it.
With my belly filled and satisfied, it was back to shoppinng for me. Time to walk off all those calories gained. :)
