“You have two hands. One for helping yourself and one for helping others.” — Sam Levenson
As a volunteer for the Adopt-A-School Program a project of SOHS (Seeds of Hope Society), I have been fortunate enough to witness the incredible impact that providing school supplies can have on students. I recently had the opportunity to participate in a school supply donation event at Apia Integrated School on Calawis Road in Antipolo City.
On the day of the event, I arrived early to help set up the donation area. I was joined by several other volunteers, including members of the Seeds of Hope Society PH and the Be Kind Ph Project. Together, we prepared and arranged hundreds of school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, erasers, and crayons.
As the students began to arrive, I could see the excitement in their eyes. Many of them came from low-income families and struggled to afford basic school supplies. But on this day, they were greeted with a sea of colorful materials, all waiting to be taken home and used for their studies.
I was assigned to help distribute supplies to the younger students. Watching their faces light up as they received their new materials was a heartwarming experience. Some hugged me, while others simply smiled and said thank you. It was clear that these supplies meant more to them than just pencils and paper - they represented an opportunity to learn and succeed in school.
As the event came to a close, I felt a sense of pride and joy knowing that I could make a difference in the lives of these students. I am grateful for the opportunity to volunteer with such an amazing organization and look forward to doing it again in the future.
Special thanks to SOHS and Bee Kind ❤
