The last time I watched a movie with my daughter was when the Barbie Movie was shown in Cinemas the previous year. This time, she convinced her aunt to buy her ticket for the sequel of Inside Out. The Inside Out Movie was shown in Cinemas in the year 2015, which was nine years ago. Now that Riley (the main character) has reached puberty already, Inside Out 2 introduces new emotions as Riley grows older.
Last Saturday, my sister Joycie booked the tickets for us since my elder sister Gwen with her kids, was already at the mall. For convenience, we booked tickets online and bought popcorn online too (everything is sold online already haha). Fast forward, it was perfect timing that the cinema for the 4:00 pm showing had opened already. My daughter was excited and sat beside her cousin Atasha.
When the movie started, everyone got excited as the emotions of joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust were shown. After a few minutes, Rhiley attended her hockey camp with her friends a new set of emotions was introduced starting with the orange one they called "Anxiety", followed by Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui (a French word that describes tiredness and boredom). I don't want to be a spoiler so I will just leave you to watch the movie first.
Overall, I love that we get to bond through this movie and my daughter gets to ask me about the new emotions. She also thinks that there will be a part 3, when Riley reaches 18. There was a line there that struck my heart as Joy said these lines after being emotional when anger tells her that she's delusional, **"Maybe this is what happens when you grow up. You feel less Joy". ** It's true indeed! I suddenly realized that as a mom who thinks about so many things, being happy comes in once in a while. I hope you will all watch the movie with your kids so they will also realize and acknowledge their growing emotions deep inside. Because their feelings are valid! :)
