In order to join the food-themed Deranged Photography Contest, I will share a photo of fried rice and a little story about it. I'm a little hesitant because I posted it at the last minute. Hopefully it's not too late.

Okay, about "nasi goreng" or "fried rice".

Nasi goreng means fried rice with basic spices such as shallots, garlic, chilies, and salt. Usually, fried rice is also accompanied by ingredients such as fried eggs, pieces of meat or chicken, meatballs, or seafood, and vegetables. Apart from that, there are also other additions such as pickles and/or crackers.

How to cook it is very easy. The basic spices are mashed and then fried until half cooked, along with additional ingredients. Then put the rice into the pan and stir until the spices are evenly distributed. After that, the fried rice is ready to eat.

Actually, fried rice originally came from China. At first, the Chinese did not like to eat cold rice, but they also did not want to throw away the left-over rice. The cold rice is reprocessed and fried with spices. So it becomes fried rice.

This food then spread to several countries in Southeast Asia and became a very popular traditional food in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Because of its popularity, this food can be found at everything from street vendors to restaurants.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a nice day!
