It was a fine day and it feels like spring weather in winter. It is not surprising though because here in Southern California we are blessed with sunshine most time of the year.
It was a weekday, my family planned to go biking in Huntington Beach, CA. The route spans right along the Pacific and it has about 10 miles of paved path, an ideal way for a smooth bike ride. It offers a scenic ride along the shoreline giving an excellent view of the blue ocean.
My brother-in-law brought his electric bike and we just planned to rent it for our use. Renting a bike here is no problem, as they have several types like the classic bicycle, tandem, or surrey. It’s such as shame that some of us don’t how to ride a bike but the rental shop has a 4-person tandem bike. I am not sure if this is what they call the surrey.
We enjoyed the sea breeze as we ride along, the sight of the calm and sparkling blue ocean, and of people waving as we pass them by. There were many people playing volleyball. I guess there was some kind of tournament.
It was a no-sweat ride, I was only a passenger but those who pedaled were so tired. They jokingly said that they are not going to do it again. Part of the boardwalk was uphill and this was where our drivers “struggled” to keep the bikes forging forward. As a token of appreciation for the ride, we fed them burgers and fries.
In the end, we all had a good laugh That was our beach day in winter. Bike, burger, and fries.
