The problem with all these upstarts like Liketu is that, if a year or so down the road their figures do not match and they can't justify paying for their servers and their developers anymore, they fold like Busy.org, Appics or Steepshot. When that happens, the photos (which are hosted by them) disappear and the result is an empty post with a few words and broken links

My idea is not to use Liketu as a storage for my photos but to extract the most value/votes from a post containing my pictures which otherwise may be worth a lot less. I understand what you are saying, but then which would be the most trusted platform that will stand the test of time so not to be afraid that those pictures will be lost one day?

There is a long answer to this ... but the short answer is to pick front-ends belonging to people who

  1. Have strong incentives to keep them going (Top 20 witness earning a living from the Hive ecosystem)
  2. Have a brand and have a reputation to defend (personal responsibility)
