New Year's Day Fireworks
Happy new year everyone! How is your new year celebration? Surely everyone is happy in the celebration. Even others have problems and then there was an earthquake on the first day of the year in Japan. Even though it is earthquake proof there are still damaged and collapsed buildings. We can't really avoid calamities like this, there is only one powerful prayer that we should never forget and always do.
Anyways, many have traditions or rituals during the new year. Like 13 round fruits here in Philippines to make new year lucky and it's a lucky number. Sticky food for luck to cling to as well as sweet foods. Others also have a traditions of putting money on a plate or bowl with eggs, rice and "Angpao" (red envelope). When it reached 12 midnight, it said that it's also customary to jump to grow taller. I used to do this but it's not true haha.🤣 When I was a child, I had fun experience because our neighbors were banging stainless steel tubs and there was a lot of smoke because of fireworks, it used to be cheap. Now the motorcycle is being driven and the honking of horn, a few fireworks are being set off. In the past, fireworks were actually banned because many people had accidents but they have been brought back. There is shaking of coins and placing coins in windows and doors.
The pictures above are our prepared food on the table during our family's New Year celebration. We have round fruits, buko salad, biko, maja blanca, fruit graham float, chocolate graham, graham balls, pansit guisado and the only dish pork menudo. There is also some bilo-bilo in the covered saucepan hehe. The pasta carbonara and pansit palabok or malabon were given by the neighbor. We celebrated the new year at my in laws house in the farm. After watching fireworks in the sky I took a video of and took a picture of my son, then we ate together.
It doesn't matter if there is a lot of food prepared, little or none prepared, as long as the whole family is together and happy. Even if relatives are far away as long as there is communication and love. That's all for todays blog. Thank you for reading!
