The Joy of Gardening #1 | 2022

Hello HIVE!

This is a new activity that I'm trying to learn and get into my daily routine: gardening.

So it goes, an office mate gave my wife a small rose plant from her home. It was a nice and cool white rose, which I've shared before. Anyways, I'm re-sharing it again in this post for comparison.

So, it had three white roses of different sizes and in different stages of bloom. The first one is the biggest and is obviously in the latter stages. The second one is slightly smaller, and the third one is the smallest, but also just a bud beginning to bloom.

These beautiful photos were taken last month before the flowers were cut and I had to re-pot the main stem/plant into a bigger plant pot so that it may grow and produce more of the beautiful white roses that it should produce.

I was nervous about the transfer since I have not done replanting and re-potting. Also, I don't think that I have a green thumb so I might actually kill the plant. LOL.

I watched some youtube videos on how it should be properly done and proceeded to do it afterwards. I was still worried that it will die but at least I can say that I did some research and did my best in case the worst happens.

A few days ago, I noticed a stem growing from where the old cuttings were made and I'm happy to say that the re-potting was a success. As you can see from the photo below, there is now a flower blooming and new stems growing after I transferred it into a bigger plant pot.

It's a small victory, for sure, but I was really happy that it did not die. It made me realize why so many people are into this plantito/plantita activity that is very popular here in the Philippines. It's enjoyable and a big stress-reliever for people, especially when the pandemic struck. Tending to flowers and plants is really an effective way to get your mind away from the stressors in your life and take a breather.

I'm now thinking that I will try this out just to see what plants or flowers I can grow in a small garden. Thanks for dropping by and reading up to here.

That's it for now. Love and peace!
