Einstein and Aarau

On the advice of the Albin Herzog ETH professor, the sixteen year young man albert Einstein came to Aarau. He failed the entrance examination in 1895 at the Swiss Polytechnic in Zurich, although he had excellent knowledge in mathematics and physics. Here at the Cantonal School of Argovia, one year later, he obtained the best grade in his class, thus opening the way for his studies in Zurich.

Before the Canton existed in its current form, it was the first modern secondary school in Switzerland, the Aarau Cantonal School, that was founded in 1802.

This school has left an unforgettable impression on my mind with its liberal spirit.

Already in Aarau, Einstein was still preoccupied with the question of light and time. His sister Maja even said it was his happiest time here.

Nice portrait of Einstein when he was young, the most we see floating on social media is the old Einstein. Aarau seems like a prestigious place for learning.
