In fact Firouzja did not want to play the match from the beginning and was negotiating with the organizers, claiming that he felt tired because he had played a bullet marathon before, as part of the same competition. This was misinterpreted by Nakamura in frustration, who added a few insulting phrases that Alireza said he would not take.

The truth is that Nakamura received a lot of backlash from the public and the chess community and was forced to apologize for his uncompetitive attitude.
