Free Hivetools
Hive is a wonderful platform! If you want, you can build your own tools that interacts with the Hive blockhain. Hive also has a lot of developers who build tools that make your life on Hive a lot easier. And they often make these tools available free of charge. Where else do you see that?
A while ago I created a blog in which I listed all the useful websites (tools) for Hive users (https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@friendlymoose/useful-websites-for-hive-users).
I probably missed a lot of tools since not every developer is actively promoting their own tools. So if you have some additions, please let me know and I'll update my blog!
Good idea's, no skills!
I don't want to brag too much about myself, but I often have good ideas. I often see opportunities for improvement of services. I think I missed my calling. I would have fit perfectly in an R&D team.
My only problem is that I can't do anything with these ideas myself because I don't have any developer skills at all.
When you have an idea and you're lacking the skills to develop it yourself, you have to find someone who can develop it for you. But where do you find developers who are willing to do this and for what price will they help you?
Hive Power Delegation
For my @topcomment initiative I was looking for an easier way to get people to delegate HP. My goal with @topcomment is to reward the people that take their time to read other peoples blog and write a high quality comment. By rewarding these people I hope the overall engagement will increase. Apart from blogger we also need people that read and react to blogs!
Anyhow, I'm upvoting high quality comments with my @topcomment account. In a reply to the comment I show a banner and ask for support of the service.
The problem I had was that it wasn't easy for Hivers to delegate Hive Power to services they want to support. Hive Power Delegation is 'hidden' in the wallets of the various front-ends. It takes a user quite a few clicks to delegate some HP. And then they also have to remember the username they want to delegate to.
You can also choose to create Hivesigner links. Hivesigner makes it possible to create a link that leads users to webpage where both the delegatee as the amount are preconfigured. The user only has to click approve to make the delegation!
Although this makes delegation of Hive Power much easier, I still have some issues with it. The biggest issue I have with it is that the user cannot change the amount. And I don't want to decide what a user wants to delegate. I'm happy with all delegations!
I worked around this issue by offering a couple of different Hivesigner links that all had other amounts. This way the users had more options to choose from, but still no complete freedom.
And besides that, you have to be logged in via Hivesigner with your active account to approve the transaction. And I also think it looks really messy with all the different links.
Sometimes you just need to have some luck...
Thinking of a solution to this 'problem' I had with delegations I visited the PeakD Support channel in their Discord server to ask if there was a direct link to the delegation popup in the wallet in PeakD.
Instead of a reaction from PeakD Support (which came later) I got into contact with @ecoinstant
I explained my issues with the hassle of delegating Hive Power and he answered the following:
I actually asked PeakD for a direct link to their delegation page, but @ecoinstant was going to look into building a new tool for it...
And so he did... or actually @thecrazygm did...
Within five hours I reveived the following message.
Hive Delegation Tool
The Hive Delegation Tool is accessible via the following link: https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools/account/delegate
This link brings you directly to the page where you can manage your delegations. You can not only delegate, but also remove delegations. The approval of the transaction is confirmed by Hive Keychain, so it's a safe solution too!
Although the tool had solved an issue I had, I still had some ideas for improvement.
After sending a small tip to show my appreciation they started working on it.
And the result: A customizable link that leads to a pre-filled delegation page, but the user can change the amount to what they want to delegate 😍
Here is an example: https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools/account/delegate/topcomment/100
When you click the Submit Delegation button a Hive Keychain login appears which you only have to approve. You could try it out with the following link 😏
Your delegation will be used to upvote high quality comments and improve engagement in Hive (besides you will get an 80% return of curation rewards).

I think this tool really made Hive Power delegation easier for everyone. A lot of people can benefit from this, especially initiatives/communities that rely on delegations.
Go use it, it is free!
If you are going to use it, please send some love to @ecoinstant and/or @thecrazygm in the form of a tip.
Free Hive Tools!
The Hive Power Delegation Tool is not the only tool these guys have built. The website (https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools/) has some other useful tools like Post Edit History and Authority Management. Check those out as well.
The development of the Hive Delegation tool triggered a discussion if these kinds of tools are worth money. I must admit it is not very common that people start making things for free. But on Hive a lot of people (including me) find it very normal that things are free.
When I asked for an adjustment of the Delegation tool @ecoinstant replied with the question if it was worth any money. I answered that, for me it wasn't worth any money (which isn't totally true since I did donate a small amount of HBD, but that is not the amount I consider you would pay a developer to build a tool).
After that @ecoinstant came up with a blogpost:
Is this worth money? and later a second blog post about the same subject where he posed the same question: Is this worth Money? #2 : More free HiveTools for you!
In this last post he encourages people to come up with ideas for new tools. You can send in a request for a tool by sending 100 Archon to his account with your request in the memo field.
These requests will be on his 'radar'. Having your request on the list doesn't mean it is going to be developed by the way the 100 Archon is the price for considering the idea.
The following ideas have already been added to his radar:
So, if you have some ideas for a new Hive tool, check out his post and donate some Archon.
A new tool on the arrival...
Earlier in this blog post I already mentioned I always have a lot of ideas. And also this week I had some new ideas again, so I donated some Archon and submitted my idea.
It hasn't been added to the radar yet, but I have had some contact with @ecoinstant and it is taken into consideration.
Do you want to know what it is? Follow @ecoinstant and you will soon find out....
