My sister’s wedding was the most memorable and saddest day of my life.I have been having mixed of feelings since when she got engaged .
Well As the bride's brother It was memorable because I had never seen her so happy before and sad. she was sad because she was leaving our house to her husband's.
We share a strong bond, despite the fact that we both have a big age difference. She was my best friend.
l always felt more attached to my sister than any of my siblings or parents. At some point I was having aversion for my my new in-law because I felt he was snatching my sister away from me.
The marriage took place during the weekend .In my Culture, the weeding consist of a two days function .
The first day called "sendforth" is the day the "bride to be" is to be prayed for and blessed by her parents and we'll wishers as she leaves to start her new home .
It was a fun filled ceremony as relative of the bride celebrated. There was lot's of singing, dancing, eating, and drinking it was a very fun event.
The second day was actual wedding day.The day of her marriage was eagerly looked forward to by all it was going to be a big occasion because she was the first grand child of my grandparents to get married, and first child in my family to get married.
Finally the long awaited day came. smile's on everyone's face, joy everywhere. And there she was, looking beautiful as a always in that lovely gown. The smile on her face made tears almost rolling down my cheeks.
I was so happy for her she. On the other hand, her husband to be was looking good on his ceremonial uniform as he was a dedicated member of the RA (royal ambassador).
We headed to the church that morning. This was where the the bride and the groom were to be joined together in holy matrimony.
My dad walked her down the aisle on that day, and after the sermon, oaths where taken, promises where made and at the end the the Reverend of the church officially declared them husband and wife to the whole church.
I could hear the whole church shout and clap some even sheading tears of joy congratulating the new couple. They looked so cute together.
The reception took place right after the weeding. This is the most interesting event of the day.
My sister’s wedding was a big day for my family.I was excited to see the lovely guests especially my friends, neighbors and my in-laws.
There were varieties of delicious sweets and food for the guests. It was a very big occasion and there was enough food and drinks for everyone to enjoy and merry. Pictures where taken with the newly weeded couple and gifts were also pretend after which it was just party! party! party!.
At the end of the ceremony, it was time for the bride to go to her new home. Her departure created a gloomy mood for many of us.
It was stressful to try desperately not to feel deeper feelings of grief which result in weird actions like me shedding tears. My sister was also feeling somber, as it is natural to be sad knowing fully well she was leaving her family behind.
She was crying while she gave me a warm hug and whispered "I will miss you so much" and immediately I could feel tears rolling down my cheeks.
My parents and all my siblings were crying too. Then she sat in the car and her husband took her to their home.
Since then my prayers has been that God keep my sister happy always in her new home with her husband and other members of her new family.
