I do a lot of laundry. Like a lot. Like, if I don't do one load every day of the week, we are drowning on the weekends. I have 6 children aged 7-15. The easiest part of my laundry duties is folding the towels. What is the worst part? Well, what used to be? Pairing and folding socks.
There are many types of socks: athletic socks, calf high, knee high, ribbed, ankle socks, character ankle socks, boy socks, girlie socks, church socks....
The time it took to match and fold the socks took forever, and usually you end up with a bin of unmatched socks that never seems to diminish. Are you ready for the hack? It is so simple, but when I first heard it years ago, my mind was blown!
I now buy the same brand and size and style of sock and everyone in the house wears them. All of them? Yes, all of us. Every couple of months I buy the 8 pack of PUMA ankle socks from Costco. They come in many colors but are all the same size and style. There are plenty of black socks in the mix that can easily be used for church as well for my boys. If for some reason, you are just grabbing for socks, then it doesn't even matter if they actually match because they are the same size and they are all ankle socks. I am literally wearing two different ones now, and nobody knows or cares.
If the random sock goes missing, it doesn't even matter because again: same size and style. This hack has saved me and my kids HOURS upon HOURS during laundry time. I was going through socks again today, and I thought I would share in case it helped someone else. Now my mismatched pile is about 10 socks, and those usually get matched up within the next two loads that go through the wash. How long does it take to do socks now? 5 minutes tops. If you consider how much your time is worth, then seriously, you just hit the jackpot.
