Some people imagine why there wasn't too many diseases and sicknesses in the world in ancient times. Very well then, this article is actually gona help a bit.

I too wondered but I have come to the knowledge of the fact that most ancient people actually lived healthily by not eating and or doing certain things.

Eat a balanced diet and on time.

I actually discussed with my grandmum who told me that in her time, there were no much fries in diets also, junks were not even in the list of meals. It was either cooked or roasted meals, meals made out of fresh veggies (soup), or fruits.

In the Western part of my Country, there is a meal known as bole, some people may have an idea of this meal, it is a combination of roasted yam, or plantain with roasted fish and local sauce made with palm oil, fresh tomatoes 🍅, fresh pepper and onion, at times some people like to add a little utazi🌱 leaf (Gongronema Latifolium). This delicacy is very delicious and healthy, you may wish to try it.

Also, eating on time matters a lot, many workaholics keep working even while feeling very hungry, just to meet up with a given task. I have been a victim of this habit until I slowly developed a stomach ulcer. When I visited my doctor, he advised i always eat on time in order for me not to face the wrath of the ulcer and while eating, I should eat a balanced diet. I think this advice should also be applicable to the general public.

Avoid heavy foods at night.

Eating heavy foods late at night, call it past 6:00pm, will not just affect the digestive system but could also cause pot belly for any gender, irrespective of tribe or race says a Nutritionist. If you have to eat at night, try a fruit salad (combination of different fruits).

Drink lots of clean water

Drinking lots of clean water during the day, aids the body and reduces the risk of developing kidney stones in the body says Dr. Ofem. Have you ever tried drinking a good amount of clean water immediately you wake up in the morning? It is very healthy and keeps the skin fresh all day. It works faster than an expensive body lotion most especially when you are consistent. This has been tested and trusted.

Cut down junk consumption

Back then, when I was very young and visited the Western part of Nigeria for holidays, I used to see bole kiosks in different places and could remember my Uncle Tim, would buy it in large quantities every Weekend for the family consumption. Recently, I spoke with my Uncle Tim and asked him if he was still buying bole on weekends and he told me that he barely came across any bole kiosk around as what was very rampant in his vicinity was junk kiosks. These days in this part of West Africa, one can hardly find a bole seller and so many people see the roasting food as stress.

I tell you that roasted foods can be very healthy and has a lot of health benefits which can help one stay longer. Avoid taking excess junk into the body system, take more of veggies, local and natural foods and also drink lots of clean water.

Another way of living healthier is taking what I call a green relaxation

This really works!
Do you know that taking relaxation in a green environment or shades from trees could be of utmost health benefit to you?

These days many people prefer the freshness from an air-conditioned environment to the natural air. Out of every 24 hours in a day, most people spend 23 hours in an air-conditioned environment. The routine goes like this; from A/C House to an A/C office to A/C Malls and back to A/C bedroom. No time for the Natural air.

Enjoying an air-conditioned environment is a beautiful thing, but once in a while, take a break from an air-conditioned environment and visit the woods, take shades under trees, 🌲 and enjoy the fresh air from the woods.

Most people around the world work 22 hours out of 24 hours in a day in order to make money and meet up with bills and expenses and forget to take a healthy break. This is one of the reasons most people are reported to have slummed in their offices, had cardiac arrest, stroke or one serious health challenge or the other. The funniest part is that when such things occur, the victim doesn't rally around for financial income again and now has the time to sit or stay at a particular position either dead or alive. So take a break. There is a saying that "nothing is worth dying for".

Try taking a break, visit places with green trees and plants, take a walk in between them, feel the freshness, sit under a shaded tree, take a deep breath and exhale. You may even combine it with drinking some fruit juice.
It resets the brain.

Avoid getting angry on a frequent basis.

Research has it that each time one gets angry, the person loses one cell. Anger has a lot to do with human health. You need to stay strong and long. Some people carry garbages around, do not let it get to you, by picking offenses. Learn to overlook things and move on.

Wow! I just learnt a lot.

I'm glad you learnt a lot

One thing about emotion is we can try to take a step back when things happen. But we can try to see things happening to our bodies but not to us. So, when we feel sadness, anger, confusion, surprise, worry, jealousy, happiness, sadness, mood swings, depression, rage, pain, disappointment, distrust, hate, joy, excitement, lust, curiosity, passion, other emotions, other feelings, etc, then we should see it as it happening to our bodies but not to our soul and spirit itself.

It is important to acknowledge the feelings. Be aware of it as a first step. Many times, people stop thinking and they let the emotions guide them. So, when you feel sad for example, you can say, "I feel sad." Sometimes, you may need to experience the feeling. You may need to embrace it and explore it. Maybe write it down in a journal. Maybe talk to a best friend about it.

There can be a process people can go through. But we should remember we will sometimes feel scared. We will sometimes feel angry. We should not think we will someday stop feeling emotions. But feeling emotions is like getting wet when it is raining.

When it rains and your clothes get all wet, you can say, "I am wet." Don't try too hard to fight it. Don't say, "I am not wet, I am not wet." Don't try too hard to feel not wet because you are soaked in the rain. Same thing with emotions. When you feel sad, it is like the sad clouds are raining sad water onto your body.

It is important to acknowledge the sad rain hitting you. That does not mean you are sad. It means sadness is raining on you. So, I'm not saying sit in the rain forever. Try to find an umbrella. Try to find an umbrella. But don't try too hard. But don't be too lazy. Maybe tell somebody you are wet. Ask people for help. Say, "I am wet. I am sad. I am angry, etc." Say, "Help me find an umbrella."

Life can be very hard sometimes. Life is full of drama. It is important not to take things too personally when people attack us sometimes. Sometimes, we may want to step back from a situation. Sometimes, we may be too close.
