The Stewardship Committee of our parish decided to hold a yard sale as part of fundraising efforts for our new church.

A yard sale (also known as a garage sale, tag sale, moving sale, and by many other names) is an informal event for the sale of used goods by, in this case, our parish. It was held outdoors in the parish school parking lot.

Used furniture of the parish was being sold.

They were sofas, coffee tables, lamps, little chairs, big ones, stable chairs...

They are far from new, but most were still usable.

Like this cane back chair may be used as an accent chair for an empty corner in a home.

Others need repair, or maybe recycled into something else. Such as this church pews.

If one is handy with furniture, a pew may be transformed into something interesting, or restored as extra sitting in a foyer or a library room in a home.

There was artwork too.

There were numerous framed prints.

But they also had many artwork in oil and acrylic.

And lots of other things.

From religious objects...

such as pictures of Our Lord, the Saints, angels...

to other things like mugs, forks, spoons, and knives.

I imagine that the parish was able to raise a couple of thousands of dollars in this activity. Every dollar helps!
