The embrodery museum in my city. ❤️

Hello hivers, an happy Sunday to you all! ❤️

As I wrote in my previous content, yesterday in the morning I went to visit the embrodery museum placed in a ancient building in the center of my city (Pistoia, Italy).
Even if I walked close to it many times before, yesterday was my first time inside of it. It's a small museum, but there are some interesting "treasures" of the art of embrodery inside 2 rooms and so I took some pics to share with you.

The Embroidery Museum ("Museo del ricamo" in italian language) is located inside a couple of rooms of an ancient building called Palazzo Rospigliosi.
During the ancient times Pistoia was very known for the excellent production of embroidered cloth (not just household and lingerie, but also wonderful embrodered dresses). The objective of this Museum is to preserve and exhibit some of those precious things.

In the following pic you can see a wonderful silk dress with gold embroderies. I also took a pic to the informations displayed in the room, so you can read about it in English too.

You have to know that my mom and my grand mother teached me to embroyder when I was a little one. They worked for many years to embroyder household and at home I have some similar things embroydered more than 60 years ago. It's common here in Tuscany to see similar things inside the houses of the families. ❤️
I was very intrigued by the ancient linen bags (XIX century), I like them so much and even if I know some different embroidery stitches, It was the first time I watched something like this (the name of the stitch is "Casalguidi imbottito").

There are some ancient documents (from the 1600) that talk to us about the activity of embroidery in my city, at first thanks the convents and the female institutes. Thanks to them we can see also some wonderful ecclesiastical cloths.

I hope you liked this sort of virtual tour inside this special small museum.
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia
