🇬🇧 Last Friday, on my day off, I went to our garden with my family. The place where our garden is located is considered quite far from where we live. Although the distance of about 70 kilometers is not very far, it can take an hour and a half due to urban traffic.
Since there are not many settlements around our garden, there are too many dogs. Most of these dogs are stray. No one takes care of them regularly. This is why dogs seem a little wild when it comes to finding food.
As we approached the garden, stray dogs, seeing us coming, started to surround us. However, this was not an offensive approach because the dogs wagged their tails and made sympathetic gestures specific to dogs. I know very little about dog behavioral language, but even this knowledge I realize that they are not approaching it with the intention of attacking.
The reality was very different. My father-in-law brought chicken bones with him every time he came to this garden. He was buying from a familiar butcher friend at an affordable price. That's why all the dogs that saw our car surrounded us, as he gave what he brought to these dogs every time.
One of them looked a little different. It resembled a hyena. She looked a little different from the others as her hair had fallen out and new hair had grown.
The dogs seemed to go crazy with excitement as my father-in-law took the bag of chicken bones out of the trunk of his car. I don't think they've had a meal like this in at least a week.
When I was teaching in the east, I saw a pack of dogs eating each other when it snowed a lot.
Hunger is really tough. No one should go hungry, not even a human, a dog, or any other creature.
After my father-in-law took the bag of chicken bones from the car, he went to the empty field across the road with the dogs surrounding him and spilled the bag on the ground.
From then on the dogs focused on the chicken bones and ate all the bones very quickly.
Dogs have very strong jaws. You should hear the sounds of bones breaking as dogs eat chicken bones.
The dogs ate this food very quickly. While they were eating their food, they almost entered the race. They aimed to swallow the bite in their mouth as soon as possible and take the new bite. This situation was the same as the wild animals we saw in the documentaries want to eat the food they hunted as soon as possible. Because in the wild, another animal can come and take your food from you at any time.
While the dogs were eating their meals, the dog with a different appearance I mentioned above was trying to distract the other dogs from the food with its growls. He was successful on one. The dominant dog in the herd immediately revealed itself to us. Turns out he was the leader of the pack.

🇹🇷 Geçen Cuma günü, izin günümde ailemle beraber bahçemize gittik. Bahçemizin bulunduğu yer, yaşadığımız yere oldukça uzaksayılır. Yaklaşık 70 kilometre uzaklık aslında çok uzak olmamasına rağmen şehir içi trafik sebebiyle bir buçuk saat sürebiliyor.
Bahçemizin etrafında çok fazla yerleşim yeri olmadığından dolayı çok fazla köpek yaşıyor. Bu köpeklerin çoğu sahipsiz. Kendileriyle düzenli ilgilenen kimse yok. Bu yüzden köpekler yemek bulma konusunda biraz vahşi gibiler.
Bahçeye yaklaşırken geldiğimizi gören başıboş köpekler etrafımızı sarmaya başladı. Ancak bu saldırma amaçlı bir yaklaşma değildi çünkü köpekler kuyruklarını sallayıp köpeklere özel sempatik hareketler yapıyordu. Köpek davranış diliyle ilgili çok az bilgim var ama bu bilgi bile onların saldırma amaçlı yaklaşmadığını farkettim.
Gerçek ise çok farklıydı. Kayınpederim, bu bahçeye her geldiğinde yanında tavuk kemikleri getiriyormuş. Tanıdık bir kasap arkadaşından uygun fiyata satı alıyormuş. Getirdiklerini her seferinde bu köpeklere verdiğinden, arabamızı gören tüm köpekler çevremizi o yüzden sarmış.
İçlerinden bir tanesinin görüntüsü biraz farklıydı. Bir sırtlanı andırıyordu. Tüyleri dökülmüş ve yeni tüyleri çıktığından dolayı diğerlerinden biraz farklı görünüyordu.
Kayınpederim arabasının bagajından tavuk kemikleri dolu poşeti çıkarırken köpekler heyecandan çıldıracak gibiydiler. En az bir haftadır böylesine bir yemek yediklerini sanmıyorum.
Doğuda öğretmenlik yaptığım sırada çok kar yağdığı bir zaman diliminde yemek bulamayan köpek sürüsünün birbirlerini yediklerini görmüştüm.
Açlık gerçekten zor bir durum. Kimse aç kalmamalı, ne bir insan ne bir köpek ne de başka bir canlı.
Kayınpederim tavuk kemiği poşetini arabadan aldıktan sonra etrafını saran köpeklerle beraber yolun karşısında bulunan boş araziye geçti ve poşeti yere döktü.
O andan itibaren köpekler tavuk kemiklerine odaklandı ve çok hızlı bir şekilde tüm kemikleri yediler.
Köpeklerin çeneleri çok kuvvetlidir. Köpekler tavuk kemiklerini yerken kırılan kemiklerin seslerini duymalısınız.
Köpekler bu yemeği çok hızlı yediler. Yemekleri yerken adeta yarış içine girdiler. Bir an önce ağzındaki lokmayı yutup yeni lokmayı almayı hedeflemişlerdi. Bu durum belgesellerde gördüğümüz vahşi hayvanların avladıkları yemeklerini bir an önce yemek istemeleriyle aynı durumdu. Çünkü vahşi doğada her an bir başka hayvan gelip yemeğinizi elinizden alabilir.
Köpekler yemeklerini yerlerken yukarıda bahsettiğim görünüşü değişik olan köpek hırlamalarıyla diğer köpekleri yemekten uzaklaştırmaya çalışıyordu. Bir tanesi üzerinde başarılı oldu da. Sürü içinde baskın olan köpek hemen kendini belli etti bize. Meğerse sürünün lideri o imiş.
