Waking up as early as possible this morning while the sky is still in a deep shade at exactly 6:49 a.m. The neighborhood was really quiet, I can still see and feel the gentle embrace by the cool breeze of dawn. Looking up to the sky, where there are few trees that has not been cut down, I can see and hear a few birds singing their morning songs. The cool air and the calm neighborhood was indeed fitting for the planet cleanup.
I looked back at my house, feeling kind of guilty. I promise my son an opportunity to engage in yet another cleaning of the planet. But he was still asleep, tucked in the warmth of his bed. This week was their mid-term break, I really wanted him to rest his little fragile body since he has been very weak lately. He has been really hoping, waiting and anticipating these few days of freedom from school, and it's finally here. So I didn't want to disturb him.I just allowed him to sleep. So, I wore my gloves, picked up my trash bag. This morning, I will be doing the cleanup alone.
Armed with determination, I made my way to the neighborhood street, just a few blocks away from where I was standing, I can sight a lot of trash littering everywhere. Getting to the exact spot, I picked them all, and immediately I put them all into the trash bag.
As I bent down to pick up the dirty pure water nylons and pieces of used clothes and alcoholic nylon packs and every other trash, I felt a sense of purpose. One by one, I collected each piece of trash, my hands working systematically. By this time, the early morning light has already started shining, in form of that golden kind of light that's slightly looking like a yellowish color on the land of the neighboring street where I was standing. The silence of the hour made the task almost meditative. Immediately, I imagined and thought about how much better the neighborhood street would look like when the members of the community actually wakes up, starting their day in a clean environment, free from littering trash, mosquitoes and diseases.
As the time passes by, a very few people are already awake by now, an elderly woman who was walking her dog passed by, she stopped, looked at me for a moment, astonished by my cleaning activities, she could not help but offered me a gentle smile.
" Doing a good job, as I can see," she said to me.
Wiping the sweat from my forehead and reciprocating her contagious smile. I said to her: " Just trying to keep our little corner of the planet clean."
She nodded in approval and replied: " If only more people thought like you, the world would be a clean and healthy place for us all."
While she walked away, I felt happy and a humbled quiet pride. I mean, those words made me blush for a second 😜.
But I didn't allow those words to get in my head, I immediately continued my cleaning and sanitation exercise. Picking falling and dried leaves that fell from the trees, dirty trash and everything that were not supposed to be littering the environment. A few pure water nylon danced in the wind, while chasing after them, a few people who watched me and appreciated what I was doing, tried to help me catch it. Surprised and happy at the same time. We all glanced at each other smiling lightly, but when we could no longer control the happy and funny scene that just happened. We all bursted into deep laughter.🤣
They said they knew I would not want to leave any dirt behind, so they thought they could actually help catch it 🥹. I thanked them while they told me: " Well done."
HERE IS HOW MY DAY WENT THIS
MORNING
The sun is gradually risen, casting warm rays in the now clean neighborhood street. As I turned to head back home, the thought of my son came to mind, hoping he would not be disappointed that I left him behind as he has understood the importance of the @cleanplanet community and how just a single person than actually make a huge difference. However, for now, he should rest his fragile hands and body, knowing that when he wakes up, he will be waking up to a clean and healthy planet earth free from dirts and diseases.
Thank you friends @cleanplanet community and beyond. I remain your humble girl @happy080. And thank you all for always stopping by and reading through my posts. Love you all. Always.
