"THE ABILITY OF ONE,THE STRENGTH OF TWO." ||IMPACTFUL CLEANING||

in #hive-1502103 days ago

Firstly, I want to thank all my fellow hivers @cleanplanet community and beyond, for sparing a few minutes or probably seconds of their time just to take a quick glance at my post. I say thanks alot🥰 and I remain your humble girl @happy080.

Today, earlier this morning at about 7:49 a.m. I engaged in yet another cleaning of our neighborhood street. The morning sun has already started casting it's golden glow over the quiet neighborhood street, and the cool breeze carried a fresh air directly onto my face and skin, I always love this time of day. It was my usual time for engaging in the clean planet exercise, except if I was to go to work, then I would engage in the cleanup just a little, prior to my work hour.
However, as I stepped outside, prepared with my cleaning equipments, I felt a sense of purpose.
Yesterday, I had this journey alone, started earlier at about 6:49 a.m. My son was still asleep by then. So he missed the opportunity to join me yesterday. When he woke up and realized that I have already completed my cleaning exercise for the day, he was not happy that I had left without him.

So, today was different.

Immediately as I picked up my gloves and trash bag and was about to leave the house again, I heard a soft familiar voice behind me.

"Mum! wait for me please, I am awake now, can I clean the planet with you today.?"

Immediately, I turned and saw my son hurrying towards me, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes though, but he was filled with enthusiasm for the clean planet exercise. He quickly climbed up on the couch to reach a pair of gloves, without my help. He rushed into the bathroom, to probably have a body cleanup. Then rushed back out again and this time zoomed into the room and after few minutes he came out well dressed.

Then, I said: "Son, you realized we are going to get dirty right?"

He replied: "We need to be clean enough to clean the planet." and we both laughed😂

" I missed yesterday, I don't want to miss today," he said.

I felt a warm feeling pass through my chest. I had already hoped that my actions would motivate him, and now, here he was, willing and ready to walk beside me.

TAKING IT SLOWLY, ONE STEP AT A TIME
We began our cleaning exercise by scanning the street and it's corners for littering trash, my son observed me intently as I cleared a particular corner of the street using an enabled long stick. He joined me as I packed all the litters into the trash bags. He mimicked my movement, working his little hand all the way to a pure water nylon, a plastic party cup and every litters on the neighborhood street.

" This is fun!" he chuckled, while jumping happily.

" cleaning can be fun and exciting when you know you are actually making an impactful differences. And it is even more fun when you have an extra hand. Today you are my extra hand, At first, it felt overwhelming. But together, we are stronger."

This was indeed an impactful cleaning: "an ability of one and the strength of two."

BELOW WAS OUR CLEANING ACTIVITIES TODAY

LASTING IMPACT

As we got closer to the end of our cleaning exercise,my son stopped and looked around the neighborhood street and its corners, and said: " Mum, everywhere looks so much cleaner now."

I nodded in agreement. " Son, glad we took the initiative to clean. Because the world doesn't change on it's own, it can only change when individuals like us tries to make a difference."

He was quiet for a moment before saying, "I think I want to clean the planet more often with you mum, every time we are on mid- term break."

Impressed by his words, there were more to this exercise, the cleaning and sanitation exercise was indeed a lesson of responsibility, team-effort and the power of little actions. Today, with my son beside me, our strength was doubled. We have been able to accomplished a huge amount of change in our neighborhood street and before the onlookers and members of the community.

One ability, two strength.

We carefully packed all the waste in the trash bag and disposed of it properly, removed our gloves and disposed them as well.

Thanks alot friends for always stopping by and reading through till this moment. Love you all. Always ❤️
