The last time I took a road walk was this morning, after getting back from school. When I strolled in my usual route in my neighborhood, I saw other snack wrappers and other pieces of garbage left in the street. As far as this sight is concerned, I have taken it upon myself to keep my surroundings clean, and therefore, this sight made me want to do more of the same. Thus I started with my Clean Planet while carrying a small plastic bag with me to pick up the garbage in the process.
Such clean-ups are rather fulfilling I believe. As simple as it may sound, the amount of satisfaction that comes with knowing that I am part of the solution to the magnitude of the trash problem ensures me. I appreciate that I have understood these small actions not only make our environment clean and amazing to behold but also free from diseases. Anyway, uncollected and can cause problems such as pest infestation and unsanitary conditions. Such a colorful and uncomplicated cleanup activity could save so many people from experiencing nasty health problems in the future.
The evening was fine, and there was a cool blast, which made my task all the more amusing. Picking up wrappers and bottles gave me the idea that even a little act like this can go a long way with those around the community. Something so simple allows you to organize a change very easily, and if everyone used a second to pick up trash, then our streets would be stunning, empty of trash.
When I finally came to complete my activity and my bag with all the trash I had picked I could not help but feel proud. In more ways than what I had in mind, this evening road walk proved to be a lot more than just that. It makes me happy that I was at least able to make a small contribution to keeping the environment clean and healthy for the neighbors. This is why I don’t regret doing this – not for myself, but for the people who also occupy this space.
This is a view that I hope will provoke even my neighbors and people passing by several times before they throw garbage wherever they wish.
