Today was both productive and relatively stressful as I had to juggle preparations for an upcoming event from Friday through Sunday. First on my to-do list was collecting the shoes my father had given to a shoe cobbler for repairs. When I arrived, still, I was surprised to find his shop closed. Puzzled, I decided to call him and find out what had kept him down for the past few days. He explained there had been an unexpected delay, but he assured me I could pick up the repaired shoes tomorrow morning. Although I felt a little disappointed, I accepted the situation and moved on. While standing there, I noticed that his workspace and the surroundings were littered with bits of trash. It was disheartening to see, but I knew I could make a difference. Thankfully, I found a waste bag he'd left at his shop, which was just what I needed. Without hesitation, I began picking up snack wrappers, plastic bottles, and other scattered particulars, determined to bring a bit of order to the area. I could only imagine the smile on his face when he saw the tidy environment tomorrow.
After cleaning, I had one further task to do: picking up my younger sister's phone, which had also been repaired. When I got back home, I handed it over to her, and her happiness was contagious. She was thrilled, and that cheered up my evening.
Despite the stressful day, I’m glad I could fit in a Clean Earth exertion and make a difference, indeed in a small way. I hope this inspires the cobbler and others to maintain a cleaner environment around their shops. It feels satisfying to take action, one road at a time. Special thanks to @cleanplanet.
