I took a break from work today to rest and take care of some house chores, especially my laundry. My clothes had been piling up for weeks, and I was running out of clean things to wear. Each time I planned to do my laundry, something else would come up either work, assignments, or other responsibilities, so I kept postponing it. But today, I decided to take a break from everything: work, projects, and assignments, just so I could focus on myself and get things in order.
As usual, my wash day wasn’t just about me. It never is. Whenever I decide to wash my clothes, somehow, I always end up washing for others too. Today was no different. Just as I got started, my dad and big brother asked me to help them with theirs. I sighed, but I knew I couldn’t say no. So, after washing all my clothes, I moved on to theirs, scrubbing and rinsing, trying to finish as quickly as possible.
I was in the middle of washing my brother’s clothes when I ran out of water. I had no choice but to abandon the laundry and go fetch more. By the time I finished, I was already exhausted, but I still had to spread everything out to dry.
At the end of the day, I realized I hadn’t really gotten the rest I had planned for. Instead of having a relaxing day off, I spent the whole day doing chores. I had hoped to rest, but I spent the day cleaning.
