Imagine putting in effort and working hard, even to the point of discomforting yourself just to get a task done, only to be bluntly told that you messed it up. Well, that was the situation I faced in school today.
Last week's lessons were centered on arrays, objects, and conditional statements, so we were asked to practice by creating an inventory system for a supermarket using arrays and objects, while also writing conditional statements.
On Sunday night, I stayed up until 12 a.m. working on the assignment, which was due today by 8 a.m. I was able to finish it, and my code was running smoothly. Confident that I had done the right thing, I submitted the assignment in the school group on Slack, feeling happy, before going to bed.
The assignments were evaluated during class today, and mine was used as a case study for corrections, which was fine. What wasn’t fine was the tutor bluntly telling me that I had done rubbish and that she was disappointed.
Her words hit so hard that I couldn’t concentrate throughout the lesson. I was sad because I thought I had put in a lot of hard work, but her words made it seem like I didn’t give it my best. I had to redo the assignment after she pointed out the mistakes. Even though I got it right on the second try, I was still upset by her words.
Have you ever felt like you gave a task your best effort, only to be told you weren't even trying? How did you feel, and what was your reaction afterward?
Anyways, below are pictures from my cleaning activity for today.
