The honey papaya plant is a tropical plant whose fruit is in great demand by many consumers. The special features of this fruit make it a favorite in the market. Apart from its sweet taste, honey papaya also contains nutrients that are very beneficial for health, especially for digestion.
However, in cultivating honey papaya, serious attention is required, especially in terms of care, starting from land preparation to maintaining papaya plants.
Serda Ade Lingga, together with Mr Rehan Sinuhaji, a honey papaya farmer who is under his guidance, took care of this plant. Maintenance activities involve removing weeds that grow around the honey papaya tree and pruning old leaves. This activity took place in Hamlet 1, Deli Tua Village, Namo Rambe District, Tuesday, September 5 2023.
According to Serda Ade Lingga, cultivating honey papaya plants is actually not that difficult. This plant grows well with humus soil, a mixture of sand, sufficient sunlight and a good drainage system. However, this plant is also susceptible to the growth of weeds which can disrupt its development.
Apart from that, one of the problems often faced in cultivating honey papaya is mealybug attacks. Serda Ade Lingga and the farmers he supports plan to carry out spraying as a control measure in the coming week.
Honey papaya cultivation is a profitable investment, as long as it is done seriously and with good care. The key to success in this cultivation is attention to detail and quality of care.
