PLANTING SEASON IS ALMOST GONE

in #hive-1502802 hours ago

Although it's rainy in Nigeria but somehow the planting season is gradually coming to an end in anticipation for the dry season, one that there would be no rain and all natural vegetation will wither away. No doubt however the season has been radiant and there has been surplus in food supply despite the fact that the high cost of transportation and fuel price makes them expensive to buy. This year many people became garden owners because of high food prices and the fact that chemicals are used to grow foods faster and it is unhealthy.

Well this year, I tried to grow pepper in my space and it was amazing. First off, I had to use the transplanting method because for some reason it doesn't not bloom properly in planted directly. I had to get the seeds of 2 species of pepper and planted them in a container and monitored it closely. Then it started germinating with constant watering and sunlight and it blossomed. After a while, when I saw that it has grown well, we transplanted it and all went well.

This is an image of nursing the seeds, these are the small tender leaves it started with.

Although the beginning was not easy because it required effort and hard work. One time there was a heavy wind and it fell, we had to support the root with sands and a stick so that it would not die.

One thing about planting your own vegetables in your environment is the feeling of satisfaction you get when you can just go to your backyard and pluck some pepper or tomatoes and make a nice and fresh breakfast for yourselves. They are so healthy and natural that you feel the freshness in whatever you are cooking.

Like I mentioned earlier, there were 2 species of pepper, the pictures above give a clear illustration of both of them. One is called cayenne pepper while the other is called scotch bonnet pepper, these are varieties of pepper common in Nigeria and used for various types of dishes both international and local.
