Hello Hivers 💕💘,
This is one of the uncommon Crops you can also meet that is being produce in West Africa Nigeria. But sometimes when you decide to plant the uncommon crops you can have it this way. When I was walking along the pathway from my own agricultural Farmland then I saw this and I decided to take some few moments to take some pictures and also reflect on it. I would have loved to cultivate the same crop like this but there is no too much space for them to grow. That is the first thing you need to consider for any crop you will love to cultivate. When there is no space you need to reduce a lot of crop so that you will manage what you have.
This is a family of cocoyam. It is planted in tuber, just like in yam set. You need to cut it into smaller pieces and ensure that it is not fully dried before you plant them individually into a hip or ridges. This will also protect the yam set all the cocoyam set all the cocoGhana set. They look alike but when they grow up they have different leaves configuration. Although if cares not taking you me lose the concentration in them and mistake one for another. This is not too common because if you don't have a very wetland you cannot grow up this crop effectively. When you manage to plant them in a dry land you may end up seeing them dried up within few weeks after planting. This is because they need a lot of water to grow and germinate, and produce more tuber. I took some pictures of the CocoGhana and how it looks like.
- They grow up in colony, which means that its survival depends on one another. When you plant one it will later spread out to germinate and start to grow up.
The way and manner this crop grows will always motivate you to plant more but you need to be extremely careful so that the space will be enough for others to grow.
The structure of the cocoaGhana is a soft long stem which other people consume when they harvested in a large quantity. But you also need to get some information about this particular plants. When they grow up to reach their maturity stage they also shows the rate at which they are matured down below the soil. They will crack the soil so as for you to know that this one is fully matured and ready for harvesting.
It is extremely consumable when you wash it after harvesting it and you slice it peel the back and cook it moderately. It's a carbohydrate food. So you need to garnish it with other nutrients.
