Hello Hivers ππ,
- This is the stem of banana. It has different color aside the normal plantain we all consume. Sometimes it may be difficult to differentiate this but for those who are closely into farming and in particular the banana or plantain species family. You can really identify this and give the physical differences. When I tell people that the differences is very clear such that the banana stem has spotted black all around the stem even some portion of the leaves. But for plantain it is not so.
It is absolutely good when you can recognize and differentiate it. Although we have different species of banana and plantain depending on the country and region. But here in west African Nigeria we also have the same different species. The species you see here in one state maybe extremely different from the one you see in another state. Sometimes you can even ask them if they consume this particular species of banana and they will tell you no. This is to tell you that we have different species as well that I'm peculiar to different states.
But they all serve the same purpose. When you consume them they also give the natural nutrients that is released from banana or plantain. We have some species of banana that are much more bigger and longer and that is why it is called Ogede Bombom. It is more common when you have a very big market that you can do a quick survey of banana and plantain. They will show you the differences.
- You can see the traces of the black spot on the banana stem. This also serve as a very good sign such that even when you see this you will be able to recognize and pickpoint that this is equally a banana stem.
As you can see it up it's the normal banana that we all consume while walking. It is not extremely too big nor too small. It is a moderate banana specie they sell in local market or even when you are traveling you see some people running after vehicles of different type to sell their commodity.
You can see that the leaves are also plane to some extent such that even in picture you can see how plane it is and you can as well identify banana from plantain with this close differences. It is to some extent that when they leaves starts to dry off, then the differences will become more clearer and more visible.
This is the flower which is also similar to the plantain flower. It is the same in shape and it also the same for banana. When you start to notice that they flower is becoming more bigger then at the same time the fruit itself will become more visible. And for those that cannot really identify it when it's growing up it will be very visible for them.
The both banana and plantain has the same flower and maturity duration. With the researches I made, I came to a conclusion that it is 3 1/2 months for banana or plantain to reach it maturity stage after you might have noticed that the flower has reached another stage of production, which is the fruiting stage. Approximately it takes three and a half months or 4 for you to harvest three matured produce from banana or plantain.
