Hello Hivers ππ,
From the beginning of the rainy season we have the privilege of getting involved into the snail farming and this is because they are really involved much during the rainy season and to this extent even when the rain falls close to the evening period, you see a lot of snails come out at night because of the every rainfall that fell. I not really know if it is a norm for it to happen but that is how it is where we have our Farm. So whenever its about to rain I always ensure that by nightfall I visit the farm so that I will be privilege to pick up so many snails at the same time.
This is one of the ways by which I really get involved into snail farming and it is not easy to handle them because they are very fragile just like the rabbit. When you talk about the snails they eat uncontrollably and this means that even when you think they are filled up they continue to inject more and consume more. For so many years that I have been into the snail farming I took the records and I also see the similarities and differences that comes up with the record keeping. In terms of the sizes of the snails and the color and breed.
You must always keep record of what you do in your farm no matter what and that is how you will know that you are making more improvement or you are making less improvement to your crops or your animals. Record keeping also with enlighten you to put more positive efforts to see more production and be productive. There are things that you need to keep in mind when you are about to raise your own snails. I took some pictures of this snail keeping and what I have to say on it.
- Snooze are a very good animal to keep or to rear but you need to understand how it works with them. They are animals that move on soil or on the ground with the motive of mating and reproducing and also reaching a huge size of production depending on the breed.
You can also be at an advantage of getting yourself involved in an environment or agricultural Farmland where you can absolutely have easy access to snails. What you need to do is to create a home for them and you start keeping them safe from insects, termite and other harmful animals. as they move from one place to another they are very sensitive so you should also create a home that is very clean and safe for them to live and reproduce.
I start to pick them one after the other as I move from one place to another as well. When we have a very big every river it is always the snail's day for myself and my family members. And this is because I want them to know what I am really engaged to when it comes to agricultural mindset and that is why I carry them along even at night sometimes.
- Picking them up can be a little bit easy for those that are already aware of how to pick them up. But if you are scared of animals or crawling animal you may not be able to do this with confidence. Just like my little kid, one of them is very scared of crawling animals but I always engage myself in proving the same way to improve her confidence in animal keeping although she is still small but she is learning faster.
You can be privileged to see more than 15 to 25 pieces of snails if you are extremely lucky or if you are very calculative. We also have a certain time or period Of hours you need to visit the farm or the garden after you have a very heavy rainfall. I always target the time 9:30pm to 11:00pm at night
You can also visit the farm very early in the morning before the sun rises. You can be privileged and lucky to see just few of the snails. It is absolutely safe to pick them up and raise them equally regarding the size but as Time goes On you will definitely need to sort them out. And you can see them under the unwanted plants or dead leaves.
The belief is always there when it comes to snail keeping. What you can always do when you are preparing yourself for this is that you need a very cold environment or location to keep them safe. Where there will be no easy access for predators to attack them. Because the crawl from one place to another for their movement and for scatting round for what they will eat.
This was when I already saw few of the snails even though they are of small sizes but within the range of 6 months and above they will absolutely reach a very matured size.
It is for a very genuine farmer to keep snails because sometimes even when you do not want to give them much food or leaves. Because the snails love spinach and other green vegetables. When you visit them in the morning you can give them the concentrate feeds and in the evening you can give them slight vegetable leaves to also boost their feeding habit and Growth.
So many people may be wondering how it is possible to engage in snail picking. Yes I have seen a lot of questions about snailkeeping. The method of how to pick them i use, maybe different from our you also source for your own. But to be on a saver side this is how I have access to my own snails sourcing. You can also learn from this method and include it in your own way of Lifestyle.
When you are selecting your snails you need to also look at the breed that you have in your own environment because we have different types of snail breeds all over the world and we also have them in sizes and also in their color shell. There are some snail breed that do not grow beyond this level. Whereas we have some that grow more bigger even up to 10 size of this.
- Snailππ keeping is a very good business as a farmer but you need to be aware of the risk that is attached to it. One of the risk is that you need to be physically present in your farm. If you have one or two labourers that help you out in some other farm aspects, in the case of snake keeping you must be physically present and you need to check them always. Many times some of them may have died which may be due to natural death or due to pollution.
