Random Engagement Contest 20220909

in #hive-1503292 years ago

This mug has been sitting in this spot in the break room since I first started the job here - and every time I see it I think of a particular song.

Just as a fun engagement and #pob #vyb activity, I’ll give 100 Ecency Points to the first person who can tell me what song this reminds me of.

I’ll update the post to add clues a little bit at a time as we go if no one’s getting it, although I suspect @wannabescrapper - aka the music man - would get this without even seeing Clue No. 1.

UPDATE 1: Since @wannabescrapper doesn’t know it, it must be a hard one - so adding another clue…

Clues:
20220909_0700: This particular song was released in 1968
20220909_0900: How many days would it take me to hitchhike from there?

Good luck!

UPDATE 2: With the second clue, @wannabescrapper was able to call it!

The song: America, by Simon and Garfunkel, 1968

Nope, I was going to say it was Saginaw Michigan, but I just checked and it was 1964.

Ooooh shiiiiiit!!! Alright, guess this means we’re in it for the long haul! 🤣

Oh okay, the second hint did it. I don't know the song name or who sang it but I think it was 4 days to hitchhike from Saginaaaaw. It sounds kind of like a Brit singer.

Edit: I just found it and it is Paul Simon. There's a reason I couldn't remember the song. It's pretty crappy. I must have heard it on the radio a long time ago.

Not a Paul Simon fan at all, or just not this song? I’m a huge fan personally, but of course I take no offense :)

I think that’s as close as we’re gonna get - thanks for playing, I’m glad you got it!

I really like Paul Simon, just not all of it. This song just doesn't matter to me I guess.

That’s fair. To be honest, not one of my favorites either…but I always liked the one line where he says empty and aching and I don’t know why…and I don’t honestly know why lol
