Hey folks.
i'm feeling good because i've managed to "repair" my phone.
About a year ago i was having a problem using the headphone socket, having to wiggle it to get the position if the headphone plug just right so the headphones would work. After some time it would not works at all, so i resorted to using bluetooth to a speaker instead, or using laptop with wired headphones.
i don't like to use bluetooth as i'm pretty sure bluetooth isharmful to health.
A few months ago i also started to have issues with the USB C charging socket on my phone with the usb cable not clicking in properly, and often coming loose and falling out.
Well i struggled with this for months, thinking about getting a new phone, but a couple of weeks ago i found a business card somewhere offering local computer and phone repairs. i called the guy who asked me make and model of phone & said he would get prices for parts and call back. But he didn't call back!
Today i noticed a bit of fluff in the headphone socket afte i pulled it out of my pocket so pulled it out with my finger tips. It occurred to me that perhaps there was more inside and that might be the reason it was not working, so i found a pin and started gently poking around inside the socket & pulling out bits of fluff / lint / tissue.
i tested the headphones and now they worked a bit, but still some crackling noises as i inserted / wiggled the plug. So i continued with the pin & blowing into the socket until eventually it now works perfectly.
So, i thought, i wonder if the issue with the USB charging socket is the same. i began poking around inside that socket and lo & behold managed to remove quite a bit of fluff from there too until once more the USB plug fits perfectly.
i'm happy the repair guy didn't call me back as it would probably have cost ? £20 - £40 i guess.
DIY phone repair succesfully acheived :-)
