CAREERS OF THE PAST, THE PRESENT AND WHAT MIGHT BE(THE FUTURE)

When I was growing up, most children wanted to be doctors,, nurses, engineers or lawyers. It was very rare to find a child who wanted anything different from those. Parents too, wanted those for their kids. And also, at that time, it was difficult to find a parent who would support a child's dream or passion outside of the above.

Passions and talents meant little. They were for side hustles(which wasn't even much talked about then) and to be hobbies. Not to be taken as priority.

It was somewhat understandable though. Fault our countries dynamics if you may. Very many courses are taught in schools, yet, there werent(still isnt) job opportunities available to graduates of those courses. Anyone who studied the earlier mentioned courses is shown more regard than his contemporaries. They easily got better and quicker job placements and were considered wealthier. The discrimination has dwindled presently, but it still sort of lingers.

I also wanted to be a doctor but I didn't get admitted to study the course. And I did not quite like it. I wasn't even sure what the role of my course is in society until I resumed classes. It was after I got in that I realized how very critical it was. Can never be overlooked or bypassed in the medical profession. But how would I have known? How would I have known when it wasn't talked about nor appreciated enough. I began to think if we were just ignorant people.

Fast forward to present day, the story is different. The "insignificant" passions and talents are now taking front role in carving careers that are of immense benefit. This is not to sideline the role of the reputable professions mentioned earlier. Nowadays, music, sports, acting, drawing, making joke/online content(which our parents used to describe as "laying about and pressing phone) is the rave. Things as photography, crotcheting, writing, recycling, mkeup, even running businesses that most parents would have been against for their kids to get involveed in are now a thing. Highly profitable and very influence given. Those who studied the courses of repute have also found a way to get themselves into the media. Who would ever have believed that pressing phone would yield so much?

Of course, certain courses still haven't gotten the regard they deserve. But with how fast things changed, I believe that such a time would come.

For now, I can't tell what the careers in the future would be like. Changes happen daily and rapidly. One thing I am certain of though, is that whatever we might not pay regard to(or what we sideline) at the moment might be the next big thing in future. At least, most of it.
Now, I just look at every skill and dream and passion and hobby as an inflated balloon. All it takes is one prick(maybe in form of opportunity or need or enlightens or whatever) for it to blow up.

Thanks for gracing this post.
Greetings!
