Hi there #PoB -ers I hope you’re all well and being safe, healthy and happy in this insane world of late!
After far too long, I am so happy and honoured to finally be here- especially on such a significant day like today- #Hivepud day!
For the past six months, regrettably I have been fairly absent from Hive as I have gotten a new job and There has been also been another thing that has been taking up a great amount of my time over the past six months to and there is this little gorgeous girl here.
Her name is Indy she’s a 15-year-old Indian Ringneck parrot and as I have never owned a bird before apart from a couple of backyard chickens 8 years ago, I have had to do much research into making sure that I am looking after her properly, giving her the right foods and are able to identify any signs of illness.
I am going to do a much bigger post to introduce her properly to you all as soon as possible and although she has been taking up a great and enjoyable amount of time (she's louder than a room full of 2year olds having temper tantrums and messier that a bar full of drunks in a food fight...) but so funny and such a HUGE cuddle bug...
And then taking up even more of my time and so much more brain power has been my new job where I have had to learn all of the intricacies of that new job.
Up until a few weeks ago, I was working 6/7 days a week from 2:30 pm to 10:30/11:00pm every night, so have not had the brainpower or the energy to do anything on the computer other than the most simplest emails as this is quite a complex job that I’m doing even though in reality it sounds quite simple because a general overview of what I do is to book shifts in the system for different disability organisations around Australia when their own internal staff can’t work.
These shift requests come in via phone and emails, hundreds per day over a 24 hour period and we have been so incredibly shortstaffed- especially when I first started nearly 6 months ago and even though we now have a lot more staff, we need more even still, as the Covid has taken a toll, both on the amount of DSW's (Disability Support Workers) that the organisations have and how many we have on record.
Anyway, Once those shifts are booked in, I contact all of the casual disability support workers that we have on record with the same skills required for those sites to entice them into taking each shift- which although sounds simple, can be quite arduous.
So, please forgive my absence as I have missed my Hive Family soooo much and am trying to figure out a way that I can change things up a bit so I can get both in equally AND all of the other things that I was doing regularly before I started this new job- which WAS my studies and my doco's...
Anyway, where there is a will, there is a way and I have the will to be far more active on here, aswell as get my life back on the RIGHT track.
