Hello, Hive!
In my last post, I shared about my latest meeting with friends. During that meeting, one of my friends, Kath, told me about Libby. It is an app that enables users to borrow e-books from their local library. Now, I can read e-books from my favorite writers! If you are interested, this is how you can use it:
Step 1: Download Libby App
You can get it on App Store or Google Play. It works on most devices too. In my case, I’m using an Android phone.
Step 2: Get an e-library Card
You have two options: (1) Get an e-library card in the Libby app, or (2) get a card from your chosen library’s website. I chose the second option. I applied for an e-library card at Broward County Library because the card can be used for ten (10) years! Another reason is that I don’t have to personally go to the library to apply. Everything is done online. If you want that too, go and get your Broward County library card here.
Once you are on the Broward County Library website, find Apply online for a library instant e-card.
Provide the required information.
On the Home library portion, choose Broward County Library Branch from the options.
When everything’s filled out, click submit. The site will show you this message, so go check your e-mail.
You will see your barcode or the card number and the PIN.
Step 3: Sign in to Libby
Open the Libby app. It will ask if you already have a card. Click yes. The app will help you find your library.
Search for Broward County library.
Then choose sign in with my card.
Provide your barcode and PIN, then sign in.
Step 4: Start Reading!
Browse for books and borrow them.
Remember you are borrowing from a library, so there will still be due dates. In Broward County Library, you can borrow a book for 14 days. After 14 days, e-books are automatically returned to the library, so there are no late fees.
You can choose to return titles early if you finish reading before the due date or renew a loan if you need more time to finish reading. Just go to your Shelf, click manage loan, then choose either return early or renew loan.
That’s it! You can explore and add library cards from other libraries. No need to limit yourself. After all, some books are unavailable in one e-library but available in another.
I hope this information will have use for you. Share this with your reader friends too! Happy reading and have a great week!
