Wahala, a road that leads to another, then another to another. POB-WOTW(S5W2)

Wahala can never be covered without creating more wahala(s), one leading to another. Facing your troubles with dignity would prevent all other forms of troubles that would have occurred during the process of running from it.

Wahala is word gotten from the Nigerian Pigin English that means troubles, problems, inconvenient situations, and the like. It is a word often spoken as regards to its presence in human’s daily experiences. The world is full of problems, both natural occurring problems and problems created by humans as a result of their ignorance, selfish interests or nonchalant behavior.

A wise man once said that humans are created to solve problems, and as long as humans live, there will always be a need to solve one problem or the other.

However, sometimes humans create most of the problems that occurs in their lives. Most times, in other to run alway from the consequences of a trouble caused by them, people ignorantly create more problems for themselves.

Wahala(problems) will always lead to another bigger problems whenever a man tries to cover it up instead of facing and getting it over with. The best way to get out of a wahala is to face the consequences once and for all.

Here is a short story, just like many others that would best explain how covering up a caused trouble could lead to another bigger trouble.

While I was deliberating on (which of the many incidents I have heard about someone trying to cover up their faults but ended up creating more bigger ones) I should discuss about, one evening I asked my little sister to take a walk with me to the junction. While we got to the main road, suddenly I heard a number of people shouting and trying to stop a long vehicle (a gas tanker to be precise). When the long vehicle eventually got stopped, the driver jumped down and took to his heels but their were so many people around to prevent him from running .

The event called for everyone’s attention as people kept wondering what was going on. My little sister and I stood at a distance but close enough to see and hear what was going on as one man explained what had happened in a neighboring town.

Some minutes before the scenario, while the tanker was still in the neighboring town, the driver got to a checkpoint but refused to stop for checkups, probably because he doesn’t have his complete papers, or he was operating illegally. Only God knows why he didn’t stop.

While he was trying to outsmart the officers at the checkpoint, he batched a moving mini van and almost got it capsized, but the driver didn’t stopped driving.

The officers at the checkpoint entered their car and began to chase the long vehicle, the driver of the mini van also followed as they both chased the long vehicle. It was a single lane travel road, and was difficult to stop the long vehicle till he entered the town where I reside. Before he finally got stopped, people explained how he drove recklessly, causing everyone on the road to make way for him to pass, they also said that he almost hit a young man not long ago.

The driver got arrested and would be charged not only for zooming off at the checkpoint and for what ever the reasons why de decided not to stop, but also for reckless driving, thereby putting the lives so many people in danger. He would also have to pay for the repairs of all the damages caused on the mini van he had batched earlier.

From this scenario, the long vehicle’s driver could have prevented the various wahala he brought upon himself if he had waited to face the consequences of what ever the problem he was trying to run away from at the checkpoint.

We have heard of people who ended up committing murder while trying to cover up the tracks of their theft, or people who committed murder to cover up the tracks of other crimes less offensive than the case of murder itself. But one thing about life is that, most times what a man has been covering for a long time ends up being revealed along side the horrible things he had done to cover the tracks over time.

Morals

Wahala can never be covered without creating more wahala(s), one leading to another. Facing your troubles with dignity would prevent all other forms of troubles that would have occurred during the process of running from it.
